A few bits of soundtrack/score news to catch up on, so let's get right to it, shall we? First up, Cliff Martinez -- who knocked everyone's socks off last year with this scores for "Drive" and "Contagion" -- is kicking of 2012 in a big way. He's already tuned up the forthcoming "Arbitrage" starring Richard Gere, and re-teamed with Nicolas Winding Refn for "Only God Forgives." Now he's been nabbed by Robert Redford to bring his upcoming drama "The Company You Keep" to musical life.

News

The drama "Last Night," from director Massy Tadjedin, and starring Keira Knightley, Eva Mendes, Sam Worthington and Guillaume Canet, rather came and went last year. No one had paid much attention when it premiered at Toronto in 2010, and no one really paid much attention when it hit theaters last May -- the film is a decent enough adultery drama, but pretty unremarkable in every way. Well, in every way but one; a score by one of the best-regarded composers of his generation, Clint Mansell.

Guys, guys, guys, I KNOW. I know "Fast Five" is still in theaters and all we want to do is go back and watch it 5 million more times. Has there ever been another film that has latched itself into our nation's consciousness so firmly and so quickly? God bless and keep Justin Lin, and thank you baby Jesus they ripped "Terminator" out of McG's sweaty fists and handed it over to this true artist. Action movies have been saved! So if last weekend was the first official start of summer blockbuster season (ALREADY?) this weekend really cements it as "Thor" brings the hammer down in the First Comic Book Movie in the Summer of Comic Book Movies. Marvel is on the MOVE this summer, with "Thor" being the first of their babies to debut at the box office. For those ladies who don't love a Hemsworth sesh, there's the rom com "Something Borrowed," and on the urban wedding-com side, "Jumping the Broom," and a bunch of interesting and buzzworthy selections in limited release. So pick your Cinco de Mayo-hungover self up off the couch and deposit your ass into one of these theater seats.

While it boasts a strong, marquee-named cast and some decent performances, Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington, Eva Mendes and French actor/director Guillaume Canet ("Tell No One," Marion Cotillard's baby daddy) Iranian-American screenwriter Massy Tadjedin's directorial debut, "Last Night," is an unconvincing portrait of unhappiness and marital disenfranchisement. A largely hollow couples-in-crisis infidelity drama, the picture lacks any romantic or sexual electricity, and doesn't possess many glimmers of substantive sparks. Characters go through the motions, but rarely do they echo in any resonant manner. While "Last Night" attempts to document the collapse of a marriage during one evening and the occurrences and issues that lead up to such an unfortunate event, it simply leaves one yearning for much, much more.

Films By Peter Mullan, Dax Shepherd & More Round Out ScheduleIt seems a new player has emerged on the indie film distribution and they will be making a big impression in 2011. Tribeca Films announced today an intriguing slate of films adding to the already includes the previously announced "Last Night" starring Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington, Eva Mendes and Guillaume Canet.

Guillermo Del Toro's 'Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark' Gets International Distribution, Still No Domestic DateOne film of a handful snared up in the sale of Miramax was Massy Tadjedin's "Last Night." The film premiered at TIFF last year but its North American release was tied up thanks to changing of hands when Miramax went up for sale. Well, there is now some light on the horizon and a release in sight.

Despite lingering aimlessly without a release due to the collapse of parent company Miramax, first time director Massy Tadjedin's romantic drama "Last Night" is actually slated to hit Italian theaters this week after screening at the recent Rome Film Festival. In anticipation for that very release, the first poster and trailer has been unveiled, providing our first look at the anticipated pic.
