While the Oscar talk around "Les Miserables" has pretty much stalled apart from the very, very good chance that Anne Hathaway will walk away with the trophy for her performance of "I Dreamed A Dream," the tremendous fan base have helped push the musical to over $350 million worldwide. Even more, the soundtrack is the second biggest seller of 2013 (behind "Pitch Perfect") moving 245,000 units already, with these kinds of numbers not matched on the charts since 2003. And so it's no surprise that the folks behind the film are going to take another bite at the apple.

With the BAFTAs now done and dusted -- and Ben Affleck seemingly one inch closer to a complete “Argo” victory -- the Oscars are next in line to focus everyone's attention on the films of 2012. The Academy should be pretty confident that people will indeed tune in, but this year they've nevertheless opted for a unique promotional campaign, one sitting right in line with the Mondo poster aesthetic.

Well the night went like many expected, but "Argo" upsetting "Silver Linings Playbook" was a significant surprise. The Ben Affleck-directed picture seems unstoppable and poised to win the Oscar Best Picture. More analysis tomorrow.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of “Les Miserables” was that the actors were actually singing as they were being filmed, a fact that was further brought to light thanks to a four-minute featurette that was released a few months before the film came out. Now we get yet another featurette on "Les Miserables," this time showing us what it was like for the crew to be shooting in the Alps.

We're about 18 hours until Oscar nominations time, but even after the DGAs yesterday and the BAFTAs at stupid o'clock this morning, there's still time for one more precursor to sneak in under the wire, and this time, it's the American Society of Cinematographers, the major equivalent to a guild award (although it's not a guild, or a union) for the directors of photography of the movie world.
