The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
And the night of non-stop teasers and clips ends with the grandaddy and most substantial of them all: "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." And even though it doesn't open for another seven months, Lionsgate clearly feels like they have a big winner on their hands...

So, this project has nothing to do with that largely unsuccessful John Cusack thriller of last year, nor anything to do with Edgar Allen Poe at all, to the best of our knowledge. It’s nothing to do with the Roger Corman movie or the Henri-Georges Clouzot one, nor is it based on the popular Disney Channel show “That’s So Raven,” and it’s got nothing to do with any Baltimore-based football player. So just what is “The Raven”? Because it’s about to sign up the second most in-demand Hemsworth as its lead.

When we last saw Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), they had survived the perilous "The Hunger Games" and now they're on a victory lap tour or some such thing. Surely things aren't gonna stay that celebratory and happy in the "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" sequel for long. In fact, in the adaptation of Suzanne Collins' YA novels, Katniss and Peta are dethroned from their respective victory riches and put back into the arena for the most climatic and menacing of the Hunger Games, known as the "Quarter Quell" (whatever) that means. Directed by Francis Lawrence (using IMAX cameras in some segments), a new teasing teaser trailer (which, let's face it, shows next to nothing) has arrived.

The hunt will begin soon. Everyone's favorite humans-killing-each-other-for-sport franchise returns to the big screen (much) later this year, but that hasn't stopped the folks at Lionsgate from reminding you that it's coming. The marketing machine for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" continues today with a couple more bits and pieces.

Wait, we thought this dude was too busy? Having just dropped CBS Film's "American Assassin" due to "scheduling," this bit of news seems a bit odd. But we suppose the lure of winning with the Oscar-nominated writer of "Traffic" is a lure that's hard to resist. Toss in the potential to work with some bonafide A-listers? We understand.

Oh, hey, "Red Dawn." This is coming out next week? Or wait, the week after? We can't really remember, but a half-hearted campaign is sort of happening for the movie and a couple of clips landed this week in case you missed it.

With the Vietnam war raging, one man will make a decision that tests his own morals, ethics and view on American life: fight for his country or go skinny dipping with Teresa Palmer? Yes, those are quandaries Liam Hemsworth faces in "Love and Honor," the kind of movie Channing Tatum used to do.

Review: Jean-Claude Van Damme Shines In The Moronically Irresistible Entertainment Of ‘Expendables 2’

“The Expendables 2” is one of the very few films that gets better as it gets dumber. Serviceably directed, horribly written and barely acted at all except for a standout performance by (of all people) Jean-Claude Van Damme, it mostly delivers in the way that the original failed to, which is by enabling action stars to charm their way through an incredibly hackneyed and conventional storyline. Nevertheless an irresistibly fun alternative to the so-called grown-up fare that has attempted to replace the escapism of '80s and ‘90s blockbusters, “The Expendables 2” offers a welcome roundup of action stars who simultaneously – and satisfyingly – celebrate and send up their former glories.

Well, if Dito Montiel is an example of anything, it's of that famous old saying: when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. It was about a year and a half ago that the director endured savage reviews at Sundance for "The Son Of No One," his procedural starring a promising cast of Channing Tatum, Al Pacino, Juliette Binoche and more that ultimately wound up getting a cursory release before disappearing onto home video. But he's dusted himself off and gotten another film on the way, "Empire State," and the first two images of the film's stars, Liam Hemsworth and Dwayne Johnson, have emerged.
