It's been the best part of a decade since Steven Spielberg announced he wanted to tackle a biopic of Abraham Lincoln. The director optioned the rights to Doris Kearns Goodwin's "Team Of Rivals: The Political Genius Of Abraham Lincoln" before the book was published in 2005, and soon set his "Munich" writer Tony Kushner with the task of adapting the project. Liam Neeson was set to play the president, but the film kept getting pushing back, and the "Schindler's List" star was eventually deemed too old, and two-time Oscar-winner Daniel Day-Lewis stepped in instead, with filming finally getting underway late last year.

If either candidate wants to win our votes in November, there's one very simple way to our hearts: amending the constitution to ban the use of trailers for trailers. A recent and insidious invention of Hollywood marketing departments, we can see the appeal from their point of view -- they get all the eyes keen for a first look at footage, but also get to drag out the anticipation and buzz for an extra few days. It's become increasingly commonplace over the last year (to the extent that even a smallish picture like "Looper" does it, and the latest to do so is Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln," starring Daniel Day-Lewis as the 16th President of these United States.

With festival season getting underway in only a few short days, we're about to see which actors will gain traction for the awards season ahead of us. But there's at least one major performance that we won't know about for a few months yet (or until we see a trailer), and it's one that's probably been the presumptive front-runner ever since the film was announced: Daniel Day-Lewis in Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln," the director's biopic of Civil War-winning President Abraham Lincoln, focusing on the last few months of his life before his assassination at the hands of John Wilkes Booth.

Yep, another Stephen Spielberg movie means another John Williams score, and the upcoming Oscar contender "Lincoln" will mark their 26th collaboration ("Duel" and "The Color Purple" being the only films in Spielberg's oeuvre the composer hasn't scored). And with the marketing campaign beginning to build up since the first official look at Daniel Day-Lewis in the lead role earlier this month, with a poster yesterday, now comes the full tracklist to the movie, which may serve as some kind of mild spoiler about just what moments in the president's life the movie will cover.

With only a little more than two months before release, all we've seen of Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" is one official image. Is it a matter of confidence? A knowledge that people are going to want to see a biopic of the legendary President, directed by America's favorite filmmaker, and starring one of the most-lauded actors of the last few decades, regardless of what the promotional material looks like? While younger actors (like Jessica Chastain and Michael Fassbender for example) crowd up their schedules with work early on in their career to gain exposure and experience, it'll be interesting to see if any follow the eventual path taken by Daniel Day-Lewis. The acclaimed actor was certainly busier in the early stages of his career but by the mid-90s the gaps between his films started to stretch out and now, DDL is equally known for the dedication to his work and the lengthy breaks he takes between pictures. Right now, the actor is suiting up as Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's long gestating "Lincoln." And while Liam Neeson was long attached to the part (and eventually grew too old to play the part), it seems Spielberg got the man he wanted all along.
