You really have to be careful with these young adult franchises. “Harry Potter” managed to lock up participants for what became an annual entry in the series, as audiences watched these kids grow into functioning young adults. That franchise knew the value of time; three and a half years later, we have the second film in the “Percy Jackson” saga, and the cast is comprised of college-age kids playing much younger versions of themselves, and embarrassed to do so. “Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters” is most interesting because of what it can’t help being: a too-late sequel years after the zeitgeist, clearly the product of a lowered budget and adjusted expectations following a not-well-received first picture. Keep the flame, Percy. Keep the flame.

Currently in a tight neck-and-neck race with Roland Emmerich's "Anonymous" to be the stupidest movie of the fall, "The Three Musketeers," which sees "Resident Evil" director Paul W.S. Anderson cunningly reboot Alexandre Dumas' legendary characters for the 21st century by trying to make it look as much like "Resident Evil" as humanly possible, is looming on the release schedule. We've already seen one truly terrible trailer for the film, and now, with the film's October release date coming closer, Summit have released the first one-sheet for the film, via Yahoo.

Logan Lerman isn't yet twenty, but the actor is quickly rising. He nabbed his first tentpole role in "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" -- which has a sequel in the works -- and he's got "The Three Musketeers" arriving later this year and he's set to star in "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower" which will go in front of cameras later this spring. And he's shoring up his resumé with another character driven piece.

"Percy Jackson And The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" seemed to come and go earlier this year. Nary a peep was heard from the hit-hungry Fox about a sequel after the film was soundly trounced on opening weekend by, of all things, "The Wolfman." An underwhelming 2010 has likely put a bit of pressure on the studio, however, as more than a year after the first one opened, they are now pursuing a "Percy Jackson" franchise. The LA Times reports that "Ed Wood" writers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (the duo also wrote "Agent Cody Banks") have been hired to pen "Percy Jackson And The Olympians: The Sea Of Monsters."
