Dumped by her boyfriend just three weeks before their wedding, Lola enlists her close friends for a series of adventures she hopes will help her come to terms with approaching 30 as a single woman in the romantic comedy "Lola Versus." Written and directed by Daryl Wein and co-written by his romantic partner of seven years Zoe Lister-Jones (the duo behind the indie relationship film "Breaking Upwards"), "Lola Versus" stars Greta Gerwig, Zoe Lister-Jones, your upcoming new "RoboCop" Joel Kinnaman, Hamish Linklater (from Miranda July's "The Future"), and features supporting roles by Bill Pullman and Debra Winger.

Hello, and happy Friday! There is quite a presence of quieter subject matter this week, including an unassuming musician and Edward Cullen playing a human version of his lothario self. But of course, no shortage of big screen adventures in 3D either. And, amidst the hailstorm of big-budget summer flicks, I’ve been wondering the following: is Hollywood working toward an ultra version of the big-budget summer flick? Combining the hugest ideas into the über-Blockbuster, if you will. For example, what would happen if a bunch of animals and Snow White were shot into space with a team of androids, began to wreak mass pandemonium on the galaxy, and had to be put down by the ultimate intergalactic crimefighting team of the Men in Black and the Avengers? Well, maybe that’s the subject of the fourth installment of the “Madagascar” franchise. Or the plot to the "Snow White and the Huntsman" sequel that was just announced. Fingers crossed, but until then, here are the movies that are actually being released.

Starring Greta Gerwig, Zoe Lister Jones, Hamish Linklater and Joel Kinnaman with supporting assistance from Bill Pullman and Debra Winger (who play Gerwig's parents), Daryl Wein's New York-centric romantic comedy "Lola Versus" arrives in theaters on June 8. And we've got the deets on both the soundtrack and score front. Let's start with the score, which was composed by LCD Soundsystem offshoots and  multi-media composers Fall On Your Sword. They've been very busy on the indie-film score front of late, writing the scores to Brit Marling's "Another Earth," the as-yet unreleased Keanu Reeves indie "Generation Umm" and Ry Russo-Young's "You Wont Miss Me," among others.That score is due digitally June 5th and comes out on CD June 12th.

This year's Tribeca Film Festival carries one of its strongest line-ups in years. In addition to films from Cannes, Venice, Toronto, Sundance and Berlin circuit, there's also a wealth of U.S. premieres or lesser-known festival movies in the line-up that look just as promising this time around; after a relatively weak SXSW, it looks like the East Coast is getting some of the good stuff.

It was somewhat underseen, but as indie relationship comedy-dramas about twentysomethings go (and it's not like there's a lack of them), 2009's "Breaking Upwards" was one of the better ones. Written by and starring Daryl Wein and Zoe Lister-Jones and directed by Wein, it followed a young couple who decide to ease into a break-up by entering an open relationship -- one day together, one day apart. It had its share of whimsy, as well as two very appealing leads, and an unusual rawness to its emotion that meant it lingered longer in the mind than some of its competition.

Greta Gerwig and Joel Kinnaman -- two actors who have been working mostly in indie/foreign fare to date -- are making big strides toward more mainstream recognition. The former already did the WB comedy "Arthur" last year with Russell Brand, and later this year, she'll feature in Woody Allen's "Nero Fiddled" and is currently lensing the HBO series "The Corrections" with Noah Baumbach. As for the latter, he's on the AMC series "The Killing," featured in the climactic showdown in "Safe House" and was just named MGM's "RoboCop." But this summer, they'll both appear in the Fox Searchlight romantic drama/comedy "Lola Versus."
