Brie Larson,21 Jump Street
An array of casting news has filtered down today, so let's just get to it. First up, Brie Larson has signed up to star in the adaptation of Emma Donoghue's critically acclaimed, best-selling novel "Room." Lenny Abrahamson, who broke out with "What Richard Did" and has the already hotly buzzed "Frank" on the way, will direct this one about "a woman kidnapped as a teenager who has been held captive for years in a tiny room where she lives with her 5-year-old son Jack. To the boy, Room is the only home he’s ever known."

Sandman Joseph Gordon-Levitt
While certainly not without its problems, “Don Jon” proved a major effort from its director and star Joseph Gordon-Levitt this year, first gaining acclaim at Sundance before making its way to theatres in September. His directing skills were the main takeaway from the experience though, and they haven’t gone unnoticed: news comes today that Levitt may be attached to a considerable leap in material for his sophomore feature, and also that he’s to lead the U.S. cast in the final film from the master of Japanese animation.

One of the more interesting side gigs among filmmakers these days is Jason Reitman's occassional live readings of famous scripts. The format is pretty straightforward: he picks a script he likes, rounds up a bunch of starry friends and then hosts a live performance with the cast embodying the various roles, and reading it live on stage. “The Breakfast Club,” “Shampoo,” “Reservoir Dogs,” “The Princess Bride,” “The Big Lebowski,” "The Apartment" and "American Beauty" have all been given new interpretations, but his latest choice might be his most intriguing yet.

While we have our hopes high and fingers crossed that the upcoming fourth season of "Arrested Development" can match the amazing genius of the first three seasons before it was canceled by Fox, it seems Mitch Hurwitz and co. are making sure they have all the comedic ingredients at their disposal. Of course, all the main ensemble are back, with John Slattery also lending his skills and Liza Minnelli returning as well. And now another player has confirmed she'll be appearing/planting as well.

Jason Reitman, director of "Up in the Air" and last year's unfairly overlooked "Young Adult," is doing another one of his "Live Readings" of a famous movie script, and this time it's the Oscar-winning "American Beauty" at the Toronto International Film Festival. Courtesy of his Twitter, he's been slowly revealing the cast members for the new reading. In addition to the already announced Adam Driver (from "Girls"), who will play the Wes Bentley role, and Sarah Gadon ("Cosmopolis"), who will play the Mena Suvari role, Reitman has revealed who will be taking on the Thora Birch, Scott Bakula, and Peter Gallagher parts.

Summit knows the tween market better than anybody else these days and with their mad money franchise "Twilight" drawing to a close, they're trying to find other ways to lure that all-important dollar from young moviegoers. They picked up the adaptation of "The Perks of Being a Wallfower" during Sundance earlier this year, and now it's gearing up to shoot and has added another cast member to Emma Watson and Logan Lerman who were first attached last spring.

SNL Funnyman Says Andy Samberg, Alia Shawkat, Mae Whitman, Johnny Simmons, Donald Glover & More Will Star In Film Written By His WifeEXCLUSIVE: We haven't been shy in expressing our infatuation with comedic actress Aubrey Plaza. Though she doesn't have too many notches on her belt, her turns in "Funny People," "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" and "Parks and Recreation" are extremely impressive, displaying a young talent with a knack for comedic timing and wit. Whether it's keeping up with Seth Rogen's deadpan, dry deliveries in Judd Apatow's last picture or actively (and abrasively) berating Michael Cera in Edgar Wright's underrated gem, Plaza did it all effortlessly and showed that she was more than just a one-note actress with a cute face. She's gonna be somebody, she's gonna be a contenda.
