11 Posters For 'CBGB' Plus First Look At Malin Akerman As Debbie Harry & More

"CBGB," an upcoming cinematic chronicle of the famed New York music venue, features a veritable who's-who of stars playing the great and good (and bad!) of the punk rock scene which centred on the venue in the 1980s. Justin Bartha plays Stiv Bators (of Dead Boys), Malin Akerman plays Blondie lead singer Debbie Harry, Mickey Sumner plays Patti Smith, Rupert Grint plays the Dead Boys guitarist Cheetah Chrome, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins is Iggy Pop with Alan Rickman as the legendary Hilly Kristal, the founder of CBGB. The film, directed by Randall Miller ("Bottle Shock"), will be out later this year and a collection of ten neon-colored posters (via Hollywood Reporter), as well as a handful of stills from the movies, give some strong hints as to what kind of movie we're in for.

John Cusack has been making some interesting career twists and turns, last year starring in projects as diverse as the Gothic procedural "The Raven" and the Southern pulp "The Paperboy." Recently at the Tribeca Film Festival, his latest turn as a curmudgeonly but brilliant writer in "Adult World" was unveiled. And this weekend we'll see the actor move back into thriller mode with "The Numbers Station," and we've got an exclusive clip from the movie to share.

A bit of an acting substitution here for a gestating indie-flick with John Cusack now replacing original star/producer Ethan Hawke as the lead in Kasper Barfoed's upcoming action-thriller "The Numbers Station," which also stars Malin Akerman. Hawke joined the project last fall when it was gearing up for early 2011 shoot, but that didn't come to pass. But with Cusack now on board, things are beginning to movie again.

Blowjobs: the new being-the-author-of-"In Cold Blood." Last time we had two dueling biographical accounts of a figure's life, we had the two Truman Capote pictures, "Capote" and "Infamous." This time, the subject is Linda Lovelace, the tragic star of the most successful pornographic film of all time, "Deep Throat," who then went on to become an outspoken anti-porn activist. Lovelace was the subject of the 2005 documentary, "Inside Deep Throat," but now a pair of biopics are in the works, with some relatively big names attracted.

After shacking up with Batman's brother in "The Fighter," Amy Adams is set to become Superman's dame. According to the L.A. Times, Zack Snyder has found his Lois Lane for the upcoming "Superman" project slated for a late 2012 release, and it's Oscar nominee Adams, who will step into the iconic workaholic high heels. If the rumors are to be believed (and not all of them are), Adams beat out less-pedigreed competition in Kristen Stewart, Jessica Biel, Rachel McAdams, Malin Ackerman, Dianna Agron, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Mila Kunis, Lindsay Lohan, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Abe Vigoda, Bristol Palin, Justin Bartha, Elizabeth Bathory, Ms. Pac-Man... rumors are rumors, we suppose.

Film festivals are a strange animal. With hundreds of films to look to look at, it's inevitable that some will get unfairly ignored or overlooked such as the recent "Cracks" which premiered at TIFF in 2009 and is only hitting theaters now. And such is the case with "The Bang Bang Club." It premiered at TIFF last year to virtually zero pre-screening buzz and then promptly fell off. We certainly didn't get a chance to check it out, but judging by the latest trailer we can see why word was a bit muted.

Malin Akerman Joins Nicolas Cage In Shiny Thriller 'Medallion'

Audiences seem to be cooling on wig-wearing, "I'll-do-anything-just-send-me-a-script" Nicolas Cage. His medieval flick "Season Of The Witch" opened at number three, and over the weekend, "Drive Angry 3D" arrived with an empty tank opening way down the list at number nine. But Cage, for whatever it's worth, is still a name that gets lower-budgeted action fare moving and certainly dinosaur bones and castles don't pay for themselves. Just before the end of the year, Cage signed on to the thriller "Medallion," and things are still moving forward on the project despite his dodgy box office prospects these days.
