Movie websites become desperate for page views. As a result, rumors take flight and somehow get upgraded briefly to "truth" before the filmmakers can sort out the misinformation. Lately, however, a spate of big releases have been playing a lengthy game of chicken with film websites, the suggestion being that false information was being leaked in order to throw publicity hounds off these movies' tracks.

Henry Cavill is going to be facing the media gauntlet in the run-up to "Superman" and it will be unlike anything the actor has experienced before. With the production likely to be kept tightly under wraps -- with Christopher Nolan producing, the film will probably face the same levels of secrecy as his own movies -- Cavill will quickly have to learn the game of answering questions but not giving away the surprises that Zack Snyder has in store. And from his first press rounds for "Immortals" at WonderCon, the actor seems to be a quick study. We caught up with the actor -- along with the rest of cast -- who were meeting with press for Tarsem's upcoming epic and while there were no big reveals his excitement was palpable.

After shacking up with Batman's brother in "The Fighter," Amy Adams is set to become Superman's dame. According to the L.A. Times, Zack Snyder has found his Lois Lane for the upcoming "Superman" project slated for a late 2012 release, and it's Oscar nominee Adams, who will step into the iconic workaholic high heels. If the rumors are to be believed (and not all of them are), Adams beat out less-pedigreed competition in Kristen Stewart, Jessica Biel, Rachel McAdams, Malin Ackerman, Dianna Agron, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Mila Kunis, Lindsay Lohan, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Abe Vigoda, Bristol Palin, Justin Bartha, Elizabeth Bathory, Ms. Pac-Man... rumors are rumors, we suppose.

Demographics matter. You want to say, well, screw the numbers, let’s just make a movie for everyone! But considering the multiple sources of entertainment in our multimedia worlds, whatever doesn’t automatically turn us on will turn us off. Because of this, Zack Snyder’s “Sucker Punch” turned people off. It was an action fantasia, a genre normally attractive to teenage boys, but it featured only girls, an immediate turnoff for that demographic. And it didn’t appeal to women, who noticed the marketing campaign centered around cacophonous violence and mayhem, not usually a drawing point for females. It wasn’t made for kids, but the heavily-CGI’d special effects made it look like a candy-coated kids’ entertainment to adults. Four quadrants, all disinterested.

Ahh, "Superman Returns," the prickly, uncomfortable thorn in the comic book movie geek's side. Far better than say, half of the 20th Century Fox films -- "Daredevil," "Elektra," "Fantastic Four," "Ghost Rider" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" -- or half the super hero movies ever made including "Punisher," "Catwoman," "Jonah Hex," "Swamp Thing," "Batman Forever," "Batman & Robin," etc., etc. The film is admittedly uneven and somewhat unsatisfying, but there's something about its DNA that really riles up some particular comic book movie fans.

After an early bout of casting rumors around Zack Snyder's upcoming "Superman," the cord has quickly been tightened around the film, employing Christopher Nolan levels of secrecy (and no surprise really, given he's overseeing the project). In fact the only real concrete news of late is that Kevin Costner was confirmed as Pa Kent in the film, while Snyder himself revealed Viggo Mortensen won't be in the film (he was rumored for Zod). But this morning comes a fresh bit of potential casting, so get ready to put on your speculation hats on people.

Well, here's the best fucking idea we've heard all day. This morning the rumor mill started around Zack Snyder's "Superman" again with word that Edgar Ramirez ("Carlos") was being considered for a villain role in the upcoming film. Well, another actor has now emerged -- someone who is perhaps one of the finest character actors working right now.

Filmmaker Says He Can't Believe There Are 'Thor' & 'Iron Man' Films, But No 'Superman' Movie Among This Current CrazeFrom remakes of classic zombie films to CGI-led, testosterone-y swords and sandal pictures, to dark superhero deconstructions and animated adventure movies starring talking owls, filmmaker Zack Snyder's career has seemingly been all over the map, but the connective tissue has been a fantasy element that has consistently run throughout the work including his upcoming ladies-led steampunk fantasy actioner, "Sucker Punch."

Zack Snyder Says That Film Is His 'Most Realistic' Movie, Temporarily Forgetting Gritty Documentary-Style Realism Of 'Legends of the Guardians: The Owls Of Ga'Hoole' While the world and their wife are currently debating the role that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be playing in "The Dark Knight Rises" (we don't want to add to the fuss, but we met someone down at the pub last night who swore up and down that he'll be King Tut), Zack Snyder is quietly assembling his cast for the other big DC Comics movie of 2012, "Superman: Man of Steel." British actor Henry Cavill landed the title role at the start of the year, and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner have been cast (perfectly, it should be said) as his adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent.

Lost Out On Lead Role In 'Sucker Punch' Due To Clash With 'Big Love' ScheduleThink back to the heady days of 2004, when you first saw Tina Fey's minor classic of the teen movie genre, "Mean Girls." You, like the rest of us, probably thought that the biggest star to graduate from that film would be its lead, Lindsay Lohan, who gave an endearing, goofy performance that suggested a long career was ahead of her. Instead, a whole bunch of drugs intervened, and Lohan is basically now unemployable, leaving her co-stars to lap her in the stardom stakes. Well, not Lacey Chabert so much, but both Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfried have become some of the biggest female stars of their generation.
