Monsters University
"Monsters University" aced its opening weekend with an estimated $82 million domestically ($136.5 million worldwide), making the film Pixar's second largest debut (after "Toy Story 3," which made $110.3 million its opening weekend). This will also be Pixar's 14th film to open in first place and marks one heck of a winning streak. If you're struggling to remember all of the other 13, check out our "From Worst To Best: Ranking The Pixar Movies."

Man of Steel
Is there a more loaded and fractious divide on a tentpole this year than Warner Bros. “Man Of Steel”? Yes, it made a ton at the box-office (though it was only the 15th biggest opening of all time, well below “Iron Man 3”), but audiences and critics have been heavily divided. One could argue that the movie has split people even more than the ending of Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” Movie writers have been gunning for each other's throats on Twitter, audiences are tearing each other apart in comments sections -- it’s all a bit of madness. And everyone feels like they have to weigh in. James Franco’s reviewed it, Kevin Smith has reviewed it and so has “Prometheus” writer Damon Lindelof.

Sure, “Man Of Steel” might have already been released last weekend but that doesn’t mean the marketing machine stops. Warner Bros. has released a new featurette focusing on Hans Zimmer’s efforts to score the reboot -- which was one of the elements we were fans of -- but that’s not all, James Franco has decided to weigh in on the film with his own thoughts. Yeah, we’re not surprised either.

Man of Steel
Well, a week hasn't even passed from "Man Of Steel" hitting theaters, and the movie continues to be broken down and studied over. We've already gone into our Best & Worst Of 'Man of Steel', and lots more information has arrived about the approach to the movie from Christopher Nolan's initial resistance to the ending, the tally of just how much damage was done in the wake of the big 9/11-esque action scenes, and the six DC Comics characters teased in the movie. But had it gone writer David S. Goyer's way, there would have been yet another. And duh, in case it isn't obvious yet, spoilers ahead.

“Man of Steel” is currently wreaking havoc on the box office with people nationwide enjoying the escapist fare. Many were in awe of the action-packed film with its fight scenes and the destruction it subsequently caused. So much destruction that some may have wondered, “Damn, how much would it cost to actually fix all that damage?” Thankfully, someone has been able to do the crunch the numbers and do all the homework for us.

Man of Steel, Snyder, Nolan, Set
If you haven't already caught the biggest June box-office opening of all time, you've no doubt witnessed the division of critics' opinions over Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, “Man of Steel.” As much as a sequel is secured, the film is certainly a mixed bag, as we discussed yesterday in our look at its strengths and weaknesses; but while one of the latter gripes focused on the ending -- spoilers, naturally -- during the climactic Metropolis fight between General Zod (Michael Shannon) and Superman (Henry Cavill), now a few perspectives closer to the material have spoken up on the bold decision.

Man of Steel
If you listen to the internet -- and that’s always a precarious thing to do -- Warner Bros. “Man Of Steel” is either the worst movie of all time or the best movie of all time and of course, nothing in between (and lord there’s been some kicking and screaming by people who disagree with one another). It’s either all due Zack Snyder inability to direct or David Goyer’s (and to an extent Christopher Nolan’s) writing genius. Granted some Playlisters did not like this movie much and some of it thought it was decent-to-ok, but we’d still like to think there’s a middle ground to be found when looking at this latest Superman movie (in fact, we’re happy to say our original review does just that).

Man of Steel
So, you've likely seen "Man Of Steel" by now and like the rest of the planet, you probably have a very loud opinion on it (and if not, spoilers below). But the bottom line is that the movie is a smashing success at the box office (whether or not it joins the billion dollar club remains to be seen), and Superman has unequivocally been rebooted with a sequel fast-tracked and on the way. We'll get to the followup in a moment, but first, it turns out there were even more superhero/DC comic world teases in "Man Of Steel" than first thought.

Man of Steel
It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's a massive hit for Warner Bros. this Father's Day weekend. The Zack Snyder-directed Superman reboot "Man of Steel" is set to rake in a bit over $113 million ($125 million if you include the Walmart screenings on Thursday night), making it the largest June opening of all time (not adjusting for inflation, it beats out former record-holder 'Toy Story 3' that made $110.3 million), the 18th opening in general of all time, and 4th for non-sequel openings. As it stands, the film has made more than the next 4 films on this list combined.
