Writer/directors Jay and Mark Duplass have slowly been moving up the ladder from their lo-fi indie beginnings, delivering last year's "Cyrus" and following it up with "Jeff Who Lives At Home," hitting theaters next spring. They still have their long-forgotten sports-comedy "The Do-Deca-Pentathalon" sitting somewhere waiting to get released, but another film they had written and were lined up to helm has found another director.

If you didn't see last year's "Cyrus" directed by Jay and Mark Duplass and starring Jonah Hill, do yourself a favor and catch up with it. Darkly funny and surprisingly moving it was a big leap forward for actor and directors alike and the trio are hoping to catch fire once again.

We probably don't need to tell you about our admiration for Aubrey Plaza, and we're glad to see the actress rightfully getting her due with the lead role in the upcoming "The Hand Job" featuring a wealth of comedic talent. But another project, also featuring Plaza, will mount first and she's joined once again with some strong players at her side.

Even the most casual dabbler in Internet jokes have seen the ad at the bottom of this piece, a baffling classified entry that holds infinite potential for a good story (and apparently 834509 memes). However, aspiring screenwriters better minimize their pirated Final Draft because filming has already begun in Seattle on "Safety Not Guaranteed," the movie inspired by the ad that's being directed by Colin Treverrow from a script by constant cohort Derek Connolly. After working in some smaller TV production and movies, the Duplass brothers have taken the two under their wing and seem to have wrangled the right kind of talent.

The prospects for screenwriter Alex Kurtzman's directorial debut, the drama "Welcome To People," continue to rise with actor-writer-director Mark Duplass now joining a cast which already excitingly boasts Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Wilde and Michelle Pfeiffer.
