After a directorial change-up was announced in August with "Twilight" helmer Catherine Hardwicke being replaced by Wes Ball, the fate of the dystopian teen franchise "The Maze Runner" was unclear. But now, Fox has stamped a Valentine’s Day 2014 release for the as-of-yet unfilmed project, based on the first in author James Dashner’s sci-fi trilogy about adolescent boys trapped in an ever-changing maze. The premise never struck us as being particularly romantic in the way young adult fare generally is, but maybe there’s more to this maze than meets the eye. Or maybe Fox plans to stock this maze full of dreamy, steamy young bucks and lure the high school bachelorettes in.

If you’re a child of the ‘90s, perhaps you hold some nostalgia for the late Friday nights you may have spent watching T.G.I.F. on ABC, a touchstone for teen-friendly programming that catered to its audiences with titles like “Full House,” “Boy Meets World,” “Family Matters,” and so many more. In a roster of shows that mixed comedy ocasionally with real life "issues," “Sabrina The Teenage Witch” always seemed a touch out of place. Based on the popular Archie Comics of the same name from the ‘60s, the show lasted seven seasons off the charm of Melissa Joan Hart and the comedic presence of Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick, yet stood out as a series steeped in fantasy and lore that was typically absent from the “T.G.I.F.” lineup.

Penguins, She WroteWe have a small degree of hope that Jim Carrey's upcoming family film "Mr. Popper's Penguins" will have something of value for those of us who can now reach the kitchen sink without having to use a chair. The film already boasts a not-too-shabby cast of Carrey, Carla Gugino, Philip Baker Hall, Ophelia Lovibond, David Krumholtz, Clark Gregg, James Tupper and Andrew Stewart-Jones. Now the esteemed and totally awesome Angela Lansbury has come aboard the project.
