While Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” hasn’t exactly blown doors down in the ratings department for ABC, it hasn’t stopped the studio from developing more projects for the small screen. Their next TV project, “Agent Carter,” has excited ABC’s executives so much that they’re foregoing the pilot altogether and may be letting it go straight to series.

Doctor Strange
With only a mere four massive franchise installments prepped for this year and next, Kevin Feige and Marvel have begun delving into one of the more mystical of their properties, “Doctor Strange.” Reports that Johnny Depp might play the titular superhero were quickly dashed, and a list of potential directors for the film has gained traction, with such names as Jonathan Levine (“50/50”), Scott Derrickson (“Sinister”), and Mark Andrews (“Brave”) in the mix. But while Feige has confirmed meeting those names, he’s also said they’re not as close to deciding as some might believe.

Pretty soon, all your media will belong to Marvel. With comic studio conquering the multiplex, and establishing that for the next few years, barely six months will go by without another superhero movie to promote or release, they are now turning their sights to TV. Next week, "Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D." will kick off on ABC, and it seems that's just the tipping point of what could be much more serialized adventures.

Marvel doesn't have any movies in theaters for a few months yet but that doesn't really stop the promotion machine one iota. "Iron Man 3" hits home video next month and so the studio's push for the moment is trying to wring some more dollar out of a flick that already crossed $1 billion at the box office.

With “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” premiering on ABC this fall, Marvel continues its world domination but the television series isn’t the first time the comics giant has experimented with its universe in a non-feature length setting. Since the Blu-ray release of “Thor,” the company has released a series of short films called “Marvel One-Shots” that take place within the existing Marvel cinematic universe. Up until now the shorts haven’t had much bearing on the continuity at large but that all changes with the newest “one-shot” that’s arriving this fall.
