So what do Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker and now Ophelia Lovibond have in common? Believe it or not, this grab-bag, eclectic batch of actors constitute the cast of a movie which is shaping up to be a pretty interesting little gamble on behalf of Marvel.

A couple days ago, the internet was graced with a rather genius bit video via Patton Oswalt. While filming a guest spot on "Parks & Recreation," Oswalt turned what was supposed to be a simple scene of him filibustering a town hall meeting, into an 8-minute, breathless, totally dorky, pitch about what Disney should do with the "Star Wars" franchise. It starts along innocently enough, but soon Oswalt is talking about a Marvel crossover and it quickly devolves into geek-speak heaven.

Iron Man 3
You've heard it all before. Franchise actors who claim they want to move on and tackle more artistic endeavors, or who insist they will only come back if the script is right and can do justice to the film(s) that came before. But few of those people are Robert Downey Jr., and even fewer earned the $50 million he pocketed from the mega-success of "The Avengers," thanks to his back-end deal for starring in the movie. So, will RDJ really walk away from that kind of money, despite professing a desire to move on from playing Tony Stark? If his interview in GQ is anything to go by, the answer is yes.

If you don't know the name Adam Buxton, Edgar Wright sure does. The Brit comedian and actor has appeared in "Shaun Of The Dead" and "Hot Fuzz," as well as "Paul" (unofficially produced by Wright) and "Attack The Block" (directed Joe Cornish, with whom he performs comedy with as Adam and Joe). So, it's safe to say that Wright and Buxton have a pretty damn good friendship, though it looks like their latest effort is likely causing the red phone to ring off the hook at the Marvel legal department.

Ever since it was revealed that Terrence Howard wouldn't be reprising his role in "Iron Man 2," ultimately replaced by Don Cheadle, there has been plenty of ink spilled about why the actor was bounced from the Marvel universe. Way back in 2008, EW reported that circa "Iron Man," it was Howard -- not comeback kid Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow or Jeff Bridges -- who was actually the best paid actor on that set. The first one to sign on, Marvel wasn't able to renegotiate his deal, but perhaps found another workaround. Rumors suggested that Howard was being difficult on set and/or the filmmakers weren't happy with his performance, leading to early drafts for "Iron Man 2" minimizing his participation. So when Marvel circled back to the actor for "Iron Man 2" with a much lower offer than the first movie, well, we'll let Howard take it from here....

Marvel Signs WWE's Dave Bautista for 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
You need a big man to play a big superhuman character. And while Marvel Studios reportedly flirted with "Conan The Barbarian"/"Game Of Thrones" star Jason Momoa, the role has gone to someone else. THR reports that WWE wrestler Dave Bautista has closed his deal to play Drax The Destroyer in their upcoming adaptation of "Guardians Of The Galaxy." Other actors up for the role apparently included Isaiah Mustafa and Patrick Wade.
