While there's no sneezing at $1.4 billion worldwide for "The Avengers," Marvel knows that if done right, the flow of money gravy from their superhero movies can continue long after they come and go from theaters. And this little update is good reminder on how that's done.

More Marvel mystery moves as the studio, with just a few weeks before to go before Comic-Con, has shifted its unknown 2014 movie from May 14th to August 1st. So what does this all mean? Who knows. While it was recently reported that "Guardians Of The Galaxy" was the title it was keeping secret for that slot (and it's largely expected that it will be 'Guardians'), as usual, the studio has remained tightlipped, so who knows what exactly its cooking up. But the shift is a savvy one.

As if Marvel couldn't top 2012, which has seen them release the blockbuster "The Avengers," start filming "Iron Man 3," and flip the switch on "Guardians Of The Galaxy," they've gone ahead and added Lizzy Caplan to the their cinematic universe. Well done, Marvel, well done.

After much speculation, it seems that we now know the identity of Marvel's secret film that's been long targeted for a May 2014 release. And it's not "Ant-Man," or "Black Panther," or "Runaways," or "Doctor Strange." It's "Guardians Of The Galaxy," the cosmic adventure that was a favorite in the 1970s before being revived recently.

It looks like Marvel and Kevin Feige are going to have a lot of questions to answer in a few weeks at Comic-Con. Fresh off news circulating that "Guardians Of The Galaxy" is being geared up for a 2014 release, another "Ant-Man" update has arrived, and, more exciting for fans, news that Walt Disney Animation is set to tackle its first animated movie.

Update: Variety has confirmed that Marvel is moving ahead with "Guardians Of The Galaxy" for a May 16, 2014 release instead of "Black Panther" which was also under consideration. Nicole Perlman, part of the Disney screenwriting program, has penned a script that has apparently been well received by the studio. Don't expect much at Comic-Con about the movie as it's expected that Marvel will focus on "Iron Man 3," but with two years to go, there is lots of time for the studio to carefully roll out their plans for 'Guardians.'

If there’s one person who should be able to instill some hope in fans wishing that Disney’s stake in Marvel and Pixar studios could lead to a collaboration someday, it would probably be animation stalwart and Pixar founding father John Lasseter. While Pixar has been generating quality films from “Toy Story” to this week’s release of “Brave” (our review here) for some time, the acquisition of Marvel Studios still feels fairly recent, and the overwhelmingly creative folks at Pixar don’t seem the type to pick up a franchise for a quick buck.

For all their success so far, the Marvel movies have, aside from a few smallish parts, been a pretty lilywhite affair to date: only Samuel L Jackson was a significant minority presence in "The Avengers." But signs are that the studio aren't going to keep that up for too long: yesterday, it was reported that the company are actively moving ahead with a movie about "Black Panther," the African prince-turned-crimefighter, and are targeting a release in 2014 or 2015.
