Now that ABC has finally confirmed the inevitable and sent “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” to series, they've begun phase two naturally by marketing the bejesus out of it. A seven-second micro-teaser dropped on Friday, but now you can catch the first real glimpse of Agent Coulson’s second coming on TV.

There's been a lot of speculation as to how Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) would be brought back for the new ABC series set within the Marvel Universe, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." The series, which is being spearheaded by "Avengers" director Joss Whedon, but has yet to get an official green light from the network, would revive the Coulson character, last seen with a giant fucking spear through his chest in "The Avengers," and focus on the super-spy organization he works for. Well, details on how he will be resurrected have been revealed (supposedly) and a spoiler warning should be issued, along with a "prepared to be incredibly disappointed" warning.

Just in time for your lunch break, here are a couple of minor updates on Marvel's latest efforts to lead Hollywood on all fronts.

She might be contractually obliged to see out at least one more season of “How I Met Your Mother,” but like the rest of the show’s cast, Cobie Smulders looks like she has a career on the big screen to look forward to once we finally find out who Ted Mosby knocked up. Smulders of course showed up in “The Avengers” last year as Maria Hill – a character who has a lot of scope to develop if the comics are anything to go by – and we’re probably going to see a lot more of her as Marvel’s Phase Two kicks into gear.

The way things are shaping up, Disney is looking like they will have their fingers in the pie of two the biggest franchises on the planet for the foreseeable future. Of course, there is "Star Wars" which is now gearing up to be a major property for the studio, and then there's Marvel, whose record smashing "The Avengers" proved the brand's global viability on a scale no one could have predicted. And while we wait for Luke Skywalker and Han Solo to return (or whatever), Marvel is continuing to branch out, hoping they can find the same success on the small screen.

We suppose it was inevitable. No other medium loves to resurrect its characters as much as the comic. While killing characters makes for great drama, the nature of the soap-opera-esque form and the kowtowing to fans generally means if anyone "dies," sit tight, they're coming back to life in the near-future once the sturm-und-drang and consequences of a death have been throughly milked.

When it was revealed in August that Marvel was taking the comic book powerhouse to the small screen with "S.H.I.E.L.D.," and that ABC had already ordered up a pilot, it was clear this was no mere idea they were just kicking around. Now that they have Joss Whedon on retainer through 2015, Marvel isn't wasting a moment, and casting is now starting on the show that they hope will expand their reach into every home across the country.

Well, that didn't take long. Mere weeks after inking a 3 year deal with Marvel, parent company Disney has put Joss Whedon to work, and it will find him expanding the comic brand to the small screen.
