Occasionally when, in the midst of press rounds for other projects, an actor or director reveals an entire film has been shot under the radar for immediate release -- Noah Baumbach's “Frances Ha” or Joss Whedon's “Much Ado About Nothing” comes to recent memory -- the effect is sublime, eliciting a buzzing anticipation for the soon-to-be-approaching result. Then there's times when the news just settles into a hesitant simmer, such as when actor and playwright Jack Plotnick recently announced cast and plot details of his completed directorial debut, “Space Station 76.”

In the works for a while now, screenwriter Akiva Goldsman ("Cinderella Man," "I Am Legend") had to do a finessing to get his directorial debut, the ambitious fantasy "A Winter's Tale" off the ground. First, he had to shave $20 million off the initial budget of $75 million, and to ease studio concerns about the marketability, he got pals Russell Crowe and Will Smith (see above credits) to take small roles. But with casting firming up over the past year, this thing is now ready to roll and the last puzzle pieces have fallen into place.

Can a movie about male stripping become the sleeper hit of the summer? Warner Bros. is certainly hoping so, and with Channing Tatum already 2/2 with "The Vow" and "21 Jump Street," the odds are looking very good that "Magic Mike" -- which also boasts Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello among the hunktacular cast -- could cap off a helluva 2012 for the actor.

After a divisive trailer that either tried covering the film’s mediocrity with a Rihanna soundtrack or illustrated a misguided attempt to package something more unconventional, Stephen Soderbergh’s film “Magic Mike” at least knows its main selling points well, namely its unbelievably fit leads Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey. And judging from their recent cover story on the film, which features its cast front and center unabashedly strutting their stuff, Entertainment Weekly is keenly aware as well.

Having conquered television with "Glee," it looks like the show's creator Ryan Murphy is gunning for equal big screen success, and he's assembled a helluva cast to bring the Tony award-winning, criticially acclaimed "The Normal Heart" to the big screen. Already in the works with Mark Ruffalo attached way back in the summer of 2010, the project picked up more steam when Brad Pitt took it under the wing of his Plan B shingle last year. And now it has brought some major talent on board.

Matt Bomer Also Joins 'Now'; Max Irons Also In The Mix For 'Giant Killer'When the New York Times reported over the weekend, in the midst of their article about DreamWorks, that Alex Pettyfer, the lead in the upcoming teens-and-aliens flick "I Am Number Four," was being groomed as the next Shia LaBeouf, we believed it. Now Monday morning, the actor has joined one high profile project, is being considered for another and is attached to a developing biopic. Not bad for an actor that until now was best known for playing the lead in "Alex Rider: Stormbreaker."
