"Michael Bay Testing Hot Young Actors for 'Transformers 4' Leads" reads the THR headline that spells things out: director Michael Bay is looking at attractive, fresh-faced actors to help star in his 'Transformers' quadrology. Uhh, duh? What else would he be looking at? But we're actually shocked to hear that none of them are Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Models, Super Models or Victoria Secret's Models, but hey, the day is young and there's lot of casting still to come, right?

With Michael Bay confirming last week that he bagged his "Pain And Gain" star Mark Wahlberg for "Transfomers 4: Hasbro Christmas," what is the first press outlet he talks to? Uh, TMZ. That's right, the blockbuster director was shoehorned between stories about Don Lemon's lame Twitter feud with Jonah Hill and allegations against Cee-Lo Green to talk about his next movie, and revealed a small bit about where the next installment will go and what he thinks of his former leading man, Shia LaBeouf.

First Michael Bay said his "Pain And Gain" star Mark Wahlberg would be in "Transformers 4," then he said, well, no, but we'll work together on a "different project" and then yesterday is sounded like Marky Mark was back in the fold. So we suppose it's no major shocker here. After what evidently seems like a fruitful collaboration on Bay's upcoming “Pain and Gain,” Wahlberg has been set for the lead of his sorta-rebooted "Transformers 4."

In a world where "Twilight" fan fiction becomes "Fifty Shades Of Grey" which in turn had Hollywood all hot and bothered to pick up the rights, we suppose we shouldn't be surprised. But using geek ideas to help brainstorm an upcoming tentpole doesn't sound like a good idea. But then again, when it comes to "Transformers 4," the franchise kind of has nowhere else to go but up at this point.

Bitching about the vapidity of tentpoles it the new black. "The Dark Knight Rises" cinematographer Wally Pfister recently disparaged the shooting clumsiness of "The Avengers" in a new interview, Paul Bettany admitted that he's never bothered to watch any of the "Iron Man" movies he's in (he plays the robot voice of Tony Stark's digital butler Jarvis) and finally, Australian actor Hugo Weaving recently said he's not very keen on returning to Marvel's "Captain America" franchise (he plays the Red Skull villain).

The TV season is about to get underway, with a handful of shows already starting airing, and, for the most part, there's not an awful lot to get excited about. A few shows that have our interest (mostly hitting cable in the New Year), and some returning favorites, obviously, but a thin slate of new series by most accounts. But that doesn't mean there isn't anything coming down the pipe, as a few announcements in the last few days have made clear.

Earlier this week, fans of the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle” franchise (who still wear footy pajamas and eat cereal stuffed with marshmallows) became incensed when an early version of the proposed remake’s script (entitled “Ninja Turtles” and written by “Alias” alums Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec) was both posted and reviewed by website TMNT NOT TANT (the website’s name is a reference to the reboot’s extraterrestrial origin for the characters). Paramount, who is set to distribute the Platinum Dunes-produced project in the summer of 2014, ordered the script to be taken down, and now Michael Bay, one of the film’s producers, has spoken about the script (Latino Review spotted his comments, via Screen Rant).

What's in store for Michael Bay and "Transformers 4"? Well, the filmmaker did try to unsuccessfully escape from the franchise several times -- he tried to make "Pain And Gain," the movie he already wrapped this summer, in between his "Transformers" films, ala Nolan and his "Batman" movies -- but that never panned out.

They say death and taxes are the only two things are certain in life, but it seems you can toss "Transformers" movies into the mix. Quality of the movies aside, the series has been a financial juggernaut, bringing in over $2.6 billion worldwide at the box office and that's not even counting the various marketing tie-ins and god knows what else that have boosted the bottom line. And it's not a big shock that Paramount want to keep the good times rolling transforming. They already bagged Michael Bay to return -- again -- to make explosions and it seems they're already planning for a future beyond.
