Alright, the 83rd Annual Academy Award nominations are in. Now it's time to analyze, bitch and moan, celebrate, postulate and what have you, depending on your subjective opinion of the way the noms turned out (it's honestly amusing watching the Oscar "expert" bloggers quiver in their boots about the diminishing shine on "The Social Network" even though it still has a great shot at Best Picture; worlds have been accordingly rocked.).

"The King's Speech" sits on the throne this morning, earning 12 Oscar nominations and looking like the film to beat at the 83rd Academy Awards, while "True Grit" follows with 10 nods and "The Social Network" with 8. Not much in the way of shockers this year, but some pleasant surprises in the mix as well as few snubs.

The devastating but beautiful love/breakup story mashup "Blue Valentine" has taken a long time to come to fruition. When we recently sat down with star Michelle Williams, who gives an award-worthy performance in the film, she spoke of her passion for the project, and how she wanted to make it for more than six years after reading the script by co-writer and director Derek Cianfrance (two other writers are credited, Joey Curtis and Cami Delavigne). But Cianfrance had other plans once shooting began.

Now that the whole ratings brouhaha has been resolved and "Blue Valentine" has received the much more reasonable and fair R-rating instead of the reactionary original NC-17 tag, The Weinstein Company can focus on the task at hand: getting asses into seats for what they hope will be an Oscar contender come February.

So far, the clips from "Blue Valentine" have largely focused on the happier times between the central couple Dean and Cindy played by Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, but in the latest look to hit the web, things are not going so well.

Actress Talks Taking On Iconic Role For whatever reason (perhaps a sudden influx of late-night cable repeats of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"...), Marilyn Monroe is somewhat in vogue. For instance, Andrew Dominik is working on an adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates' Monroe-centric novel "Blonde," with Naomi Watts. That's a few years off yet, as the director's first heading for crime thriller "Cogan's Trade," but another take on the legendary star has just wrapped in the UK -- "My Week With Marilyn."
