Hard to believe that over the course of their red meat-eatin' action careers, Sylvester Stallone and Walter Hill never crossed paths. Hill has directed the likes of Eddie Murphy, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and the immortal James Remar, but not once has he been associated with the headstrong star of "Rocky," "Rambo" and "The Expendables." That may change as Hill may be climbing aboard "Headshots," the action picture starring Stallone which was left orphaned after director Wayne Kramer exited over creative differences.

To put it quite simply: "Passion Play," starring Mickey Rourke and Megan Fox, was the worst film we saw at TIFF last year (though Dustin Lance Black's "What's Wrong With Virginia" comes a close second). Our man on the ground called it "a cliche-riddled, risible and utterly painful experience that boasts hallmark sentiments and TV movie-of-the-week sensibilities mixed in a disastrous attempt to make a love story about unearned redemption." And most critics agreed with that sentiment. It was the directorial debut of screenwriter Mitch Glazer and it's sure to be his last time behind the camera for a long, long, while.

The Berlin Film Festival always brings a ton of news as independent producers shop around for pre-sales, and the latest project to be revealed is an intriguing, if odd-sounding drama, with an eclectic cast. Screen Daily reports that Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson and Lenny Kravitz are all attached to star in "The Blind Bastard Club," which will begin filming in April.

Film Society of Lincoln Center Screens 'The Wrestler,' Aronofsky Talks Both "Body" FilmsWith all this "guaranteed" Oscar talk for the haunting "Black Swan," it's easy to forget that Darren Aronofsky's exceptional 2008 Golden Lion holder "The Wrestler" not only lost the two nominations it had garnered (which includes the deeply moving game-changing performance by Mickey Rourke), but was completely snubbed for a Best Picture nomination, with the Academy amassing a pretty weak final five ("Frost/Nixon"? Really?). It's something to keep in mind as the date for the award ceremony's next iteration draws closer and closer, even if the Academy has been known to give "apology" awards, generally reserved for any time they have fucked up decisions in the past (which, taking a look back, is quite often). Really, though, anything could happen; those fogies are a queer bunch.
