After wowing us at TIFF last fall with its “shades of classic Italian melodrama put through the lens of a distinctly American film,” director Derek Cianfrance's “The Place Beyond the Pines” slowly nears closer to its much-anticipated release, and now you can get a look at what that description may sound like musically.

Wow, we weren't expecting this. At all. Thus far, director Derek Cianfrance has shown a proclivity for either soul music (which fills his directorial debut "Brother Tied," which is one of the reasons keeping it from being properly released -- the licensing costs are expensive) or indie rock (the Grizzly Bear powered "Blue Valentine," which also featured the rarity "You And Me" by Penny & The Quarters). But Mike Patton? Damn, son.
