The trouble with being multi-talented is that you can't be in more than one place at once. And so it is with Lake Bell. The actress has been a reliable scene-stealer over the last decade or so, but she's been mostly absent from our screens of late, having spent much of the last few years prepping her thoroughly enjoyable directorial debut "In A World..." (she was even missing from much of the last season of the excellent "Children's Hospital," although she directed a couple of episodes).

In his first role since his breakout performance as the title character in “Life of Pi,” Suraj Sharma has chosen to play another Indian boy on a remarkable journey -- this time in the real-life tale “Million Dollar Arm” as a cricket player who wins a reality television competition and a contract to play baseball in the United States. Of the two actual pitchers, Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, it is unclear which one Sharma will be playing. Alan Arkin has also signed on to embody another industry veteran type after his Oscar-nominated turn in “Argo,” this time as a retired baseball scout.

After the disappointing returns for the unfortunately underrated "Fright Night," followed by his exit on "Pride And Prejudice And Zombies," director Craig Gillespie is dusting himself off and picking himself up. This summer he got attached to direct Will Ferrell in "The Flamingo Thief," and now he's headed to the baseball diamond with Jon Hamm.

2011 is turning out to be a banner year for writer/director Tom McCarthy. The helmer recently premiered his latest effort "Win Win" at the Sundance Film Festival to strong reviews which should carry over to his biggest box office success and exposure to date (if it gets more people to watch "The Station Agent" and "The Visitor" then it's a win-win right? -- sorry we had to go there). Anyway, Hollywood is paying attention.
