Devil's Knot
It has been twenty years since the horrifically mutilated, murdered bodies of children Steve Branch, Michael Moore, and Christopher Byers were found in a creek in the middle of Robin Hood Hills in Arkansas. And thus started a saga that spanned nearly two decades, with the trials of the accused Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley Jr. and Jason Baldwin gaining national attention, which eventually turned to outrage. Chronicled in great detail via the 'Paradise Lost' trilogy of documentaries as well as Amy Berg's "West Of Memphis," the case of the West Memphis Three soon became one of justice denied, not only to the three young men, but also the victims whose real killer or killers is still unidentified.

As always, the wheelers and dealers in Hollywood are inking contracts and getting movies made, and quite a bit of movement has happened over the last week and a bit, so let's just dive right in...

These days, if you're not making studio tentpoles, financing is hard to come by. So it's no surprise that Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan, who hasn't made a feature since 2009's softcore drama "Chloe," is striking while the iron is hot. He's already wrapped on "Devil's Knot," his West Memphis Three drama starring Reese Witherspoon, Colin Firth, Dane DeHaan and more. And not only is next movie, "Queen of the Night," gearing up fast, but an actress is keen to work with him again.

Well, we gave up on the second season of "The Killing" after being jerked around way too much by a plot that refuses to do anything, but the stars of the show don't have to worry about their Hollywood prospects. Joel Kinnaman has already popped up in a couple of movies and stars in the summer's indie rom-com "Lola Versus" and is slated to be the next "RoboCop." Meanwhile, Mirielle Enos has already bagged roles in "World War Z" with Brad Pitt and "Gangster Squad" with Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Emma Stone and a zillion other people, and now she's joining another film with an equally impressive roster.

If you never watched AMC’s crime drama “The Killing” last year, but heard a lot of the buzz and noise, let’s help you out. The narrative went like this: The pilot episode of the show -- an eerie mix of David Fincher “Seven” rain/gloom aesthetics and the “Twin Peaks”-like ominousness found in the Pacific Northwest -- received near universal acclaim from critics.

With the expensive on-again, off-again production of "World War Z" now back on track for a summer shoot thanks to a little help from David Ellison's Skydance Productions, casting is now beginning on the film and a new name is looking to come aboard.
