Miss Julie Jessica Chastain Colin Farrell
While we didn't see much of Jessica Chastain at the multiplex in 2013, aside from the horror thing "Mama," 2014 promises to bring us a whole lot of the actress. Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar" is, of course, already scheduled and the now-filming "A Most Violent Year" is expected to be ready for the awards season, also the dual movie "The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby His & Hers" will likely see some kind of release in the next twelve months. And one more to keep an eye out for, at least on the festival circuit, is Liv Ullman's "Miss Julie."

After two Oscar nominations in a row, and one of the best performances of the decade so far in "Zero Dark Thirty," all eyes have been on what Jessica Chastain would do next. While the actress has lined up some major projects -- teaming with Guillermo del Toro on "Crimson Peak" and Christopher Nolan on "Interstellar" -- the star's first move was to do something lower key; an adaptation of August Strindberg's seminal play of sexual politics and class, "Miss Julie."

Haters to the back. We called this one. Or at least the Jessica Chastain part because, well, she basically said as much already. During a press conference for "Mama" reporters asked what was next for the "Zero Dark Thirty" actress. "It hasn't been announced but it might be a Strindberg thing. It hasn't been announced yet," she said. Being that many of us understand what that means, we asked, does that mean the adaptation of "Miss Julie" that Ingmar Bergman's muse Liv Ullmann was scheduled to direct? And yes, Chastain essentially confirmed with a physical gesture (much beyond the goofy face of a Matthew Vaughn character actor mind you; and that didn't pan out).

Last summer, cinephiles got a bit of a surprise when Ingmar Bergman's muse Liv Ullmann revealed that she was preparing to shoot her next directorial project, "Miss Julie," this year in Ireland, and that Michelle Williams was reportedly attached. The movie is an adaptation of August Strindberg's classic Swedish play, a controversial work exploring power, sexuality, class, identity, love and gender set in 1874, and Ullmann said she'd "use Irish actors as servants and British as the masters of the house." But could she be gaining another excellent actress to her class?

It's been over a decade since Ingmar Bergman muse Liv Ullmann has been behind the camera with the actress-director staying relatively quiet throughout featuring only in a handful of film roles as well. Color us surprised as hell then when Ullmann revealed plans of a comeback in a recent interview in the Boston Globe noting that she'll be "doing a movie next year in Ireland as a director."
