Perhaps worried that news of "The Dark Knight Rises" prologue playing in front of it was taking some of the steam off "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," Paramount has dropped a new action-packed clip from movie that is a nice change from Tom Cruise swinging around outside and Jeremy Renner jumping down a shaft.

Much to the chagrin of a certain faction of arthouse-only devotees, we've been pretty pumped about "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" for a variety of reason. It marks the live action feature debut by longtime Pixar director Brad Bird ("The Incredibles"), it boasts a pretty great cast (Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Léa Seydoux, Anil Kapoor and more) and that recent full length trailer was pretty ace. Well, a new clip has arrived for the movie over at MSN and it's a reminder that slick packaging can be deceving.

Yes, it starts off a little hammy with some pretty boilerplate dialogue -- "We're live." "Abort!" "It was a set up.." -- and an unnecessary plug for the iPhone, but it's not long before the new trailer for "Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol" settles right in and delivers the big, badass set pieces you expect when you plunk down your $12 at the multiplex.

Plus 'Inception,' 'Star Trek' & 'Fast Five' To Get IMAX Re-ReleasesThough overruled when it came to our fall preview last week -- too many other staff members have been burned by mediocre franchise installments in the past -- this writer is really kind of excited about "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," the fourth installment in the Tom Cruise-led spy franchise. J.J. Abrams, who got closest to getting it right with "Mission Impossible III" (which has great moments, but doesn't quite hang together), has returned to produce, there's an intriguing, eclectic cast, including Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Simon Pegg, Tom Wilkinson, Josh Holloway, Lea Seydoux, Michael Nyqvist and Anil Kapoor, and some of the best below-the-line talent around, including "There Will Be Blood" lenser Robert Elswit and composer Michael Giacchino.

Aw, man, this whole Ethan Hunt-in-a-hoodie motif is gonna be a thing, isn't it? There are ideas less cool than a forty-nine year old man in a hoodie, but we can't think of any right now, particularly with this new poster from "Mission: Impossible: Ghost: Protocol: Colon: Extra Colon: Metalstorm: The Destruction Of Jared-Syn" staring at us in the face. And we do mean FACE. Man, you could just reach out and kiss the Scientology lord in this shot. Kudos for shoehorning in the classic burning fuse from the original TV show, because otherwise, NOTHING about this looks like "Mission: Impossible." And that lament, friends, is three movies too late!

More Photos From 'Dragon Tattoo,' 'MI4,' 'We Bought A Zoo,' 'The Muppets,' 'Breaking Dawn' & More"The Rum Diary" starring Johnny Depp has been in the can for what feels like two years now, but there's a reason for the delay apparently. ''You can't open it next to some blockbuster thing,'' Depp told EW in their Fall Film Preview issue. ''It's a special little film.'' While we've seen photos of Depp as the writer Paul Kemp who works at a Puerto Rico newspaper in the '50s-set adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's early novel, this is our first look at Amber Heard in the picture. The director is Bruce Robinson of "Withnail & I" fame? Wait, who? Exactly. Robinson hasn't directed a feature since "Jennifer Eight" in 1992, but as he told EW, "Johnny's one of the few stars who can [handpick] who they want to direct a movie." And what's one of Depp's favorite movies? Well, the debauched and depraved "Withnail & I" so there you have it. The picture also stars Aaron Eckhart, Giovanni Ribisi, Richard Jenkins and it hits theaters on October 28.
