Nah, It's Just A Crummy New PhotoSo what happens when the Paramount marketing department decides to go after the "young, urban demographic." This. A new still has arrived from the upcoming "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" and it appears that Tom Cruise has signed with No Limit Records and put out a mixtape. Or maybe he's just become wise to who Lady Sovereign is/was and what her Save The Hoodie campaign was all about.

One month ago, reports surfaced that one of the many projects Tom Cruise had on his desk was an adaptation of one of author Lee Child's Jack Reacher thrillers, "One Shot," with Christopher McQuarrie attached to write and direct. Well, it's now all signed, sealed and delivered.

As we expected, after a bootleg copy of the French version leaked over the weekend, a fresh official version has now landed and yes, "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" looks like a supercharged blast.

In just a couple of days, "Transformers: The Dark Of The Moon" will swoop over multiplexes worldwide delivering loads of robot smashing fury, but for us, the most anticipated moment of that film will happen even before it begins. The trailer for the franchise sequel/refresh of sorts "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" will be unveiled in front of the Michael Bay film, and if this (curiously well shot) bootleg of the French version is anything to go by, it looks pretty damn great.

Paramount Slate For Imax In 2011 Also Includes 'Super 8,' 'Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn' & ' Transformers: Dark Of The Moon'Tom Cruise is looking to bring back his bread and butter franchise with all the bells and whistles possible. The plot is being kept under lock and key and the film is in the midst of a worldwide shoot with "The Incredibles" director Brad Bird at the helm. But just to make sure audiences get as much bang for their hard earned buck as possible, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" will feature scenes shot in IMAX. Yes, just like Christopher Nolan did for "The Dark Knight."

Tentpoles That Hopefully Are Fun, Indies That May Or May Not Be Quality, Etc.You could see our annual three sets of anticipated film features like this: the Most Anticipated is an earnest example of the films we're truly looking forward to the most in that year, with a few caveats listed within if you read closely (i.e., we're looking forward to it, but the writing might be on the wall). Then our Escapist, Popcorn piece is more like: these are the fun, entertaining films of the year that may or may not be good. For us and our taste, it's always a bit of a toss up and history shows that we're generally on the money in terms of how we'll feel about the eventual product (not because we're biased, but because we know our own taste, blah, blah, blah). That said, we always try and remain as positive as possible. Frankly, if you're going to make super-hero films, sci-fi action films, fantasy/adventure films, etc. we want them to be good as touchstones such as "The Dark Knight," "The Lord Of The Rings," "Inception," etc., but obviously those films set the bar a little higher than what your average film from these genres generally aim for.

Despite the tiredness of the franchise in general, and the ridiculous over-punctuation of its title, we're somewhat optimistic about "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," for two reasons. The first is that it marks the live-action debut of animation genius Brad Bird, who was behind "The Iron Giant" and "The Incredibles," and if the prospect of a spy movie from the man who directed the latter, perhaps Pixar's best film, doesn't excite you, we don't know what will.

We Preferred "Mission Impossible: The Rise Of Xenu" Ever since it was announced that the currently filming fourth entry in the "Mission Impossible" franchise wouldn't necessarily be called "Mission: Impossible 4," we've spent literally seconds wondering what the possible title could be. Ain't It Cool reported a while back that one contender was Mission: Impossible: Project Aries," but at a press conference in Dubai where the film is shooting, star Tom Cruise revealed that another of the possibilities floated had been picked — "Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol."
