Exclusive: One of the reasons we're more excited for "Moonrise Kingdom" than we have been for any Wes Anderson film in a decade is the cast. While a few of Anderson's usual repertory company -- most notably Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzmann, are returning -- the leads, a twelve-year-old boy and girl, are newcomers (Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward), and the supporting cast are made up of some intriguing new names, including Bruce Willis, Edward Norton and Frances McDormand.

"Moonrise Kingdom," Wes Anderson's first live-action film in five years, is now firmly underway: it's a month into filming, and only yesterday, images of stars Edward Norton and Bill Murray on set leaked out. And it's fair to say that we're as excited about this as any Anderson film in years: the script, from the director and Roman Coppola, is recognizably Anderson-esque, but also takes off in a new direction, and, while the cast includes a number of his usual rep company -- Murray, Jason Schwartzman, possibly Owen Wilson -- there's also an exciting selection of new actors joining them, including Norton, Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and, as confirmed yesterday, Harvey Keitel.

Harvey Keitel Confirmed As Part Of The CastWith filming underway on Wes Anderson's next project, "Moonrise Kingdom," info is slowly starting to creep out about the film that has been keeping a lid on some of the finer details, but here's what we know so far. Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman star alongside newcomers Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward in the director's first period film set in 1960s New England, with the story centering on a young boy and young girl who fall in love and run away together, turning their small town upside down in the process. Gilman and Hayward play the kids, with Willis as the town sheriff, Edward Norton as a Boy Scout camp leader and Murray and McDormand as the young girl’s parents.

Film Finalizes Cast With Newcomers Jared Gilman & Kara HaywardHard to believe, but it's been nearly four years since we've seen a live-action Wes Anderson film (though his stop-motion adaptation of "Fantastic Mr. Fox" did help fill the void). Well, fans of the director shouldn't have to wait too much longer because filming has already begun on his next project, "Moonrise Kingdom," in Rhode Island. Set in the '60s on an island off the coast of New England, the film assembles perhaps his most impressive cast to date (or at least since "The Royal Tenenbaums"), including Anderson first-timers Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton as well as Anderson regulars Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman. Also confirmed are the 12-year-old boy and girl at the center of the film, newcomers Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward. The script is penned by Anderson himself and "The Darjeeling Limited" co-writer Roman Coppola, and will be Anderson's first period piece.

It's safe to say at this point that we're looking forward to Wes Anderson's "Moon Rise Kingdom" as much as anything else that's coming out in 2012. The "Rushmore" helmer, one of the most important voices to appear in American film in the last couple of decades, had shown signs of ossifying with the misfires "The Life Aquatic" and "The Darjeeling Limited," and it didn't help that film festivals were suddenly inundated with streams of poor quality Anderson knock-offs. But 2009's animated excursion "Fantastic Mr. Fox" turned out to be the director's best work in years, and early word suggests that he's edging out of his comfort zone for his next picture.

Heralded Music Supervisor Says Favorite Wes Anderson Film Is 'Life Aquatic' & Yes, He's Already At Work On 'Moon Rise Kingdom'Richard Linklater was a no-show to his SXSW conversation with celebrated music supervisor Randall Poster -- bummer -- (they've worked together on "The School of Rock," "Before Sunrise" and "SubUrbia" which members of Sonic Youth did some uncredited musical score work on). But Poster soldiered on with Graham Reynolds, the composer currently working on Linklater's next picture, the West Texas-set black comedy, "Bernie," starring Jack Black and Matthew McConaughey.

Actor Says No, Then Yes, Then Backpedals To A "You Never Know" With A WinkWes Anderson's upcoming '60s-set movie "Moon Rise Kingdom" was announced earlier this year, and apart from Bill Murray, none of the regular Anderson players (Jason Schwartzman, Angelica Huston, Owen and Luke Wilson) were mentioned as part of the cast. Instead a new group of actors, including Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton were reported to be in negotiations for the film centering on two young adults who fall in love and run away in a New England town.
