Summit Sets 'Highlander' Director While 'Mortal Kombat' Director Moves On

For years producers have been trying to get a "Highlander" reboot off the ground, with a number of high profile directors flirting with the project (most notably "Fast and Furious" filmmaker Justin Lin, now on board as an executive producer). Well, it looks like they have finally found their director and chances are you've never heard of him. But, as "Highlander" finally secures some talent, the big screen revamp of "Mortal Kombat" has lost its director (he's also someone you've never heard of). Hey, these things happen.

The geeks have spoken and Warner Bros. has listened. Remember last summer when Kevin Tancharoen (the guy who did the "Fame" remake that no one cared about and the "Glee" 3D concert movie no one went to go see (how is this dude still getting work?) directed a ridiculous po-faced "Mortal Kombat" promo trailer to try and get traction for a new full-length movie going? Well, apparently enough people with bad taste were impressed because Deadline reports that WB are getting a reboot of the video game movie going. Hooray.
