Johnny Depp
Because we live in a time when there's going to be at least four "The Amazing Spider-Man" movies, and "The Transporter" is getting an origin story, it's no surprise that studios want franchises. Basically, the thinking is that audiences would prefer to see a story they already know, rather than something original (which in the eyes of studios, is potentially risky). Which brings us to franchise grandaddy Johnny Depp, who is the swashbuckling billion dollar man behind four "Pirates Of The Caribbean" movies (with a fifth on the way), while also the face of the "Alice In Wonderland" series (with "Through The Looking Glass" coming in 2016). So naturally, Lionsgate wants a bit of that pie.

We’re still a couple of months away from “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” but Lionsgate is already moving forward with the two-part finale “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.” THR is reporting that “Game of Thrones” actor Natalie Dormer is joining the finale as “Cressida, a director who joins the rebellion.” MILD SPOILERS—Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss consents to being part of the rebellion’s propaganda machine and Dormer’s character will aid in the crafting of the materials meant to inspire the people of Panem to rise up against the capitol. Dormer will appear in both parts of the film.

Well, if you put Johnny Depp in the center of a movie, other stars will likely orbit. As he gears up his next film, the comedy crime flick "Mortdecai," he's got a couple of magazine cover ready names getting ready to join him.

You would think that after the flop of "The Lone Ranger," Johnny Depp would ride toward something safer, but the thing is, with "Pirates Of The Caribbean 5" and "Alice In Wonderland 2" both brewing over at Disney, he's got no shortage of paycheck, easy money gigs to cash in on. So instead, he's taking the opposite tack, reteaming with writer/director behind one of his more forgettable non-franchise entries.
