With Steven Spielberg leaving "Gods And Kings," the developing Moses movie over at Warner Bros (they're now keen on getting Ang Lee to take over), Fox isn't wasting a minute to try and beat them to the punch. You may have forgotten, but among the many, many, many, many, many, many, many projects Ridley Scott has on his plate is a Moses movie of his own. Apparently, this one is gaining fresh heat thanks to Steve Zaillian's rewrite, and Fox has their eye on a leading man.

The last we heard about Steven Spielberg's potential Moses movie "Gods And Kings" was well over a year ago, when word circulated that he might be eyeing a start date this spring. But obviously, a lot of things have happened since then. The director's "Robopocalypse" started moving to follow "Lincoln" until he delayed it, essentially freeing up his summer, part of which he'll spend as the Cannes Film Festival as the jury president, while also looking over newly tasked director Colin Trevorrow's work on "Jurassic Park IV." And oh yeah, he's also developing Stanley Kubrick's lost "Napolean" project as a TV miniseries on top of the many other big and small screen efforts he has his hands in. And it appears that he won't be parting the Red Sea any more.

One only has to look at Ridley Scott's IMDB page to realize of the many, many, many, many projects he has in development, at the age of 74, the sand in hourglass is running out and he's not going to get to them all. But don't tell him that, as the director keeps piling them on. Most recently the "Blade Runner" sequel and a western that's most likely "The Color Of Lightning" have been buzzed about the most, and of course, there's "The Counselor" which he'll shoot this fall. And we presume that after "Prometheus" opens this weekend, provided all goes to plan, sequel chatter will begin to pick up around that film as well (he's already been talking about it). But of course, there's even more he's working on.

That's right, Hollywood is once again planning on trudging out Bible-based epics, but it's a pretty smart move. The Bible Belt is a huge market that isn't afraid to vote with their dollars and lately, they have been sorely underserved by Hollywood. But when they do find something they like, they reward it, as the box office tallies for such films as "The Passion Of The Christ" and "The Blind Side" (which had a huge faith-based marketing campaign) will attest to.
