Shooting Won't Start Til 2012, But Rights Issues May Cause More DelaysColin Firth's had a somewhat curious career trajectory so far. From boy wonder in "Another Country," to your mom's favorite prickly heartthrob in "Pride & Prejudice," to chubby villain in "Shakespeare in Love," to your mom's favorite prickly heartthrob (again) in "Bridget Jones' Diary," to singing dad in "Mamma Mia," he's finally become a bona fide leading man, and A-list star, after last year's brilliant "A Single Man," and the critical and commercial behemoth that "The King's Speech" has become. The actor is about ten days away from picking up a Best Actor Oscar (let's face it, any suspense has gone at this point...), but he's already become firmly in demand.

With Jaden Smith now a proven moneymaker, The Smiths are now looking to turn their other spawn, Willow Smith into a multi-quadrant threat. The pint-sized sensation already set the blogosphere on fire with "Whip My Hair" and as was revealed last month, a remake of the kid's classic musical "Annie" is in the works with her to star. So who better to direct than the man who has single-handedly made singing along to terrible songs cool again?

We've brought it up a few times now, in an attempt to atone for ignoring the film on its original release, but we'll mention it one more time -- when we finally caught up with Sony's "Cloudy With Chance of Meatballs," it turned out to be one of the most delightful surprises of 2009, a genuinely charming animation which managed to be inventive, funny, exciting and moving in equal measure. It came from writer-director team Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who were behind the MTV animation "Clone High," and it seemed to promise big things for the pair.
