Yes, sometimes we're cranky, snarky and cynical but we're also big pushovers for gooey entertainment that hits the sweet spot just right, and from what we've seen of "The Muppets" so far in the multiple trailers, it is a film that is blending nostalgia, reverence for what makes those characters work and a rare, genuine sense of fun that we can't wait to be a part of.

Jim James Originally Hired To Write Music For 'The Muppets,' Songs On New My Morning Jacket Album

Thanks to the two recent teaser trailers "The Muppets" looks like a total blast, capturing the vibe that made us giddy for the felt covered co-stars back when we were in short pants. The film features an all star cast (Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Rashida Jones, Chris Cooper with cameos from Emily Blunt, Ricky Gervais, Alan Arkin, Jack Black, Billy Crystal, Zach Galifianakis and more) and will be tuned up by “Flight of the Conchords” star Bret McKenzie. But it wasn't always that way. With My Morning Jacket's new album "Circuital" hitting stores today, frontman Jim James has been doing the press rounds revealing that at one time he was on track write songs for the upcoming movie, but that you can hear some of his efforts on the band's latest long player.

So is American Express and Vevo like the concert webcast version of HBO? Sure seems like it. So far, they've lured Spike Lee, Terry Gilliam and David Lynch to direct concert webcasts for John Legend & The Roots, Arcade Fire and Duran Duran, respectively, and now they've nabbed another high profile helmer.
