Once upon a time, you could just release a trailer and people were happy with it: a rare glimpse into a movie that was still weeks or months off. Nowadays, you can't just have one trailer, you have to several, some before the movie's even been made, plus endless TV spots and featurettes and clips and whatnot.

Partly due to the Trayvon Martin case and also because their hands are already full with "Prometheus," which comes out a month before, Fox has been kind of quiet on "Neighborhood Watch." Until now. They've dropped a foul-mouthed and pretty fucking hilarious red band trailer for the movie that suddenly has put this one on our radar. And oh, by the way, it's now called "The Watch."

It feels like the summer movie season has been underway for some time already, given that last month saw the arrival of huge blockbuster "The Hunger Games," as well as "21 Jump Street," an R-rated comedy that's taken an enormously impressive $130 million. And that's even without mentioning those that hoped to be big box office stuff, but fell at the first: "John Carter," already taking its place among the annals of the great flops, and "Wrath Of The Titans," which has taken less than half what its predecessor made domestically.

The summer movie season is only a few weeks away. Indeed, in some parts of the world, it's already underway. Due to the Euro 2012 football tournament, the rest of the world are getting several films, including "The Avengers" and "Prometheus" early, and many territories were unlucky enough to get "Battleship" in their multiplexes last week. But things kick off in the U.S. on May 4th with "The Avengers," with roughly one massive tentpole following every week after that.

Comedy team ups are a tricky thing. Bringing together a bunch of funny people doesn't necessarily mean the end product will be the height of hilarity, and for every "Anchorman" there are countless other comedies that fail to deliver on the promise of the cast. And so, while bringing together Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade is pretty amazing on paper, we have yet to see how their various comedic styles will play together, but in this first look at "Neighborhood Watch" at least sets up the tone for what we might expect.

A few bits of soundtrack/score news to catch up on, so let's get right to it, shall we? First up, Cliff Martinez -- who knocked everyone's socks off last year with this scores for "Drive" and "Contagion" -- is kicking of 2012 in a big way. He's already tuned up the forthcoming "Arbitrage" starring Richard Gere, and re-teamed with Nicolas Winding Refn for "Only God Forgives." Now he's been nabbed by Robert Redford to bring his upcoming drama "The Company You Keep" to musical life.

We have to admit, we're still excited whenever we get our hands on an issue of Entertainment Weekly and get a first peek at an upcoming movie, even if its something we aren't all that interested in seeing. Since the rise of the internet however, we are pretty glad to not suffer through pages about "The Last Survivor Bachelorette" or whatever mind-numbing reality show is getting a three page spread just to see Ben Stiller in some sweatpants. Shhh. You're welcome. Just take it.

Billy Crudup's always had a slightly uneasy relationship with celebrity. The stage star grabbed many with his film debut in Barry Levinson's "Sleepers," but ever since, he hasn't shown much desire to really jump on the A-list; every time he takes on a star-making turn like "Almost Famous," he returns to the stage, or makes a tiny little-seen indie, with his blockbuster performances tending towards supporting roles in the likes of "Mission: Impossible III" or "Public Enemies."

Transitioning out of "Saturday Night Live" and establishing yourself as a stand-alone star isn't easy and for every Will Ferrell or Adam Sandler there is a Chris Kattan or Tim Meadows. For Will Forte, the journey certainly hasn't been a straight line. His attempt to turn "MacGruber" into a feature film found audiences lukewarm to the idea, and his previous attempt big-screen comedy stardom "The Brothers Solomon" was roundly ignored and critically savaged. However, Forte hasn't given up and is wisely going the supporting route to re-build his profile. With roles in "I Hate You Dad," "Rock Of Ages" and "Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie" on the horizon he's adding one more big-league comedy into the mix.
