Night Moves
There's a million ways for the perfect plan to go wrong, and the trio leading Kelly Reichardt's "Night Moves" are trying to avoid them all. One of our Most Anticipated Films Of The Summer, the low key thriller could be a nice change of pace from the eye-melting, ear-shattering blockbusters coming in the next few months, and another new clip has arrived to give you taste of what's coming.

Summer 2014 preview
The temperatures are rising, the coats are going into storage, and the TV spots are getting more prevalent. That's right, it's almost time for summer movie season again. The months of May through August are traditionally the biggest in the multiplex calendar, but the lines have become increasingly blurred in recent years—if "Noah" and "Divergent" didn't kick off blockbuster season, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" certainly did, and that was three weeks ago.

Night Moves
Last week we got the international trailer, and now it all comes home today with a new domestic trailer for Kelly Reichardt's "Night Moves." And it dives into a world where trust is earned, and forever fragile, and where conviction is the biggest weapon of all.

Night Moves
Deliberate and the measured, the oeuvre of Kelly Reichardt—which has included films "Old Joy," "Wendy & Lucy" and "Meek's Crossing"—isn't for everyone. That said, she's been able to attract some pretty terrific talent for her films, with Michelle Williams making two movies with the director. Her next project, "Night Moves," she rounds up Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard for a tale with a more provocative punch.

20 Best 2014 Films We've Already Seen
The more OCD among us here at Playlist Towers find it a source of constant aggravation that release dates vary so much from territory to territory, and festivals often get premieres a full 18-or-so months before a film gains a proper U.S. release, that doing a cut-and-dried list of any given year’s movies becomes less science than art. And while it’s an art that has already yielded our first magnum opus of the year, the 100 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2014, (and we should probably be awarded the rest of January off as a result) there’s still a category of film we’ve left unmined: those movies that we saw and reviewed in 2013 at festivals or sneak screenings or parts foreign that won’t be in theaters until 2014.

Night Moves, Kelly Reichardt
Director Kelly Reichardt (“Wendy and Lucy,” “Meek’s Cutoff’) has an eye for vast American landscapes, in which she deliberately places lonesome, trudging souls who are continuously searching—for connections, for new lives, for meaning.

Night Moves
With a trio of measured dramas under her belt — “Old Joy,” “Wendy & Lucy” and “Meek’s Cutoff” — Kelly Reichardt has established herself as a filmmaker whose storytelling is patient and considered. But when news arrived that her latest "Night Moves" would take on eco-terrorism and feature a Hollywood-ish cast with Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Petes Sarsgaard, it certainly grabbed our attention. The result? As our review out of Venice notes, a "perfect reminder that Reichardt is one of the most exciting directorial talents we have right now."

Night Moves, Jesse Eisenberg
After the acclaimed trio of “Old Joy,” “Wendy & Lucy” and “Meek’s Cutoff,” Kelly Reichardt was already proving hard to pin down. The three films that made her name (plus her lesser-known earlier works “ Ode” and “River Of Grass”) are immediately recognizable as the work of the director, but very different from each other thematically, if perhaps not formally. Whatever her next move was going to be, it was going to be interesting, but few would have predicted that it would be “Night Moves” – a crackling little suspense thriller/morality play indebted to Dostoyevsky and Hitchcock. But while it’s a left turn, it’s at least as good as the films that came before it, and still with the same recognizable DNA intact.
