Maybe it's because the weather is getting warmer or perhaps it seems like summer is just around the corner, but next week's "Oblivion" seems to be either a kickstart to the summer movie season or a big finale to the spring slate. Either way, it's bringing the business with Tom Cruise as the last man on Earth, in a film by "Tron: Legacy" director Joseph Kosinski all powered by a score from M83. And today, we have a helluva prize pack that any fan of the musician is really going to want to get their hands on.

Only a few years ago, big sci-fi action spectacles were confined pretty much to the summer months. But now, the season has crept out to the extent that it essentially lasts from the middle of February (see the release of "A Good Day To Die Hard" this year) to... pretty much the rest of the year, with barely a few weeks going by without a major tent-pole arriving. Even the once-barren month of April isn't safe anymore, with the arrival of "Oblivion," an expensive, visually lavish sci-fi picture top-lined by megastar Tom Cruise.

As the weather starts to warm and the flowers bloom, so too does the movie slate become increasingly more promising, with a whole host of springtime movies that will surely thaw the snowy remnants of winter. After a surprisingly robust March that saw the likes of “The Place Beyond the Pines” and “Spring Breakers,” April has even more killer selections to make your spring that much warmer.

Whatever your feelings are about “Oblivion,” it must be nice to know it’s finally coming out in a few weeks. Doesn’t it feel like trailers for “Oblivion” have been in theaters for a long time now? Tom Cruise reminiscing about the last great Super Bowl on Earth, Morgan Freeman lighting up a cigar, telling Cruise what’s “really going on” etc. Come to think of it, are we sure the movie hasn’t been released already?

While we still have to wait to see if Tom Cruise's "Oblivion" will give an early start to the spring/summer blockbuster season, we do know one thing: the movie will definitely at least sound epic. M83's Anthony Gonzalez has provided the sonic backdrop for Joseph Konsinski's latest sci-fi adventurse, and yes, it sounds pretty much like you thought it would.

Yesterday, movie and music fans got a nice surprise when M83's "StarWaves" from the upcoming soundtrack to the sci-fi "Oblivion" landed online. Now, twenty-four hours later, the full tracklisting has been revealed, and make no mistake, Anthony Gonzalez has ditched the more flowerly song titles from his albums, for names that definitely reflect Joseph Kosinski's movie. Spoilers ahead?

"I'm always trying to push myself and I try to do it with my studio albums, and now this is a new adventure, so I'm going to push myself even harder, and try to surprise people and move people with my music," M83 mastermind Anthony Gonzalez told us last year when we reported he was going to score Joseph Kosinski's "Oblivion." "My vision is really to have a combination of very electronic moments, very M83, and sometimes merge into something more soundtrack-y." And it sounds like he's more than succeeded.

We have to say, with each passing trailer, Joseph Kosinski's upcoming "Oblivion" looks better and better. What once seemed like a "Wall-E" for adults has become something of an anticipated sci-fi tentpole, boasting an intriguing concept, some pretty impressive effects and a vibe we can get down with, and this latest trailer has once again upped the ante.
