Oldboy
We all know that "Oldboy" is famous for it's rather brutal action scenes with nothing more than a man and his hammer, but that doesn't mean other implements can't be just as harmful. And sometimes you just have to use what's close by to get the job done, as Josh Brolin's character tries to do in this new clip from Spike Lee's remake.

There's probably some kind of award handed out for movie marketing, and if there is, we really hope someone is campaigning for "Oldboy." While the jury is still out on Spike Lee's remake, full credit to FilmDistrict for truly embracing the the twisted story, and having some fun with it.

Oldboy
Spike Lee doing a remake of Park Chan-wook's "Oldboy" is a venture fraught with more than one way to fail, and as of yet, the filmmaker has our trust that he can put his own stamp on the twisted revenge story. From assembling a great cast, to teasing out the movie in promising, decent-sized servings, so far what we've seen suggests a distinct take on this story. And with the remake making a presence at New York Comic Con, even more is being shown off as the steady marketing campaign for this one continues.

If nothing else positive comes from Spike Lee's remake of “Oldboy,” it can at least boast the director's reunion with his former frequent collaborator, Samuel L. Jackson. After a string of offerings including “School Daze,” “Do The Right Thing,” and “Jungle Fever,” the two men fell out publicly, and up until last year's controversy surrounding Quentin Tarantino's “Django Unchained,” the relationship wasn't looking to improve. But in a new interview with Playboy magazine, Jackson reveals the reason behind his reunion with Lee, and also provides a hint of more 'Django' on the cutting room floor.

Finding an audience for a twisted, very R-rated revenge flick with a plot so bizarre, taking place in a world so strange that it can't be easily packaged and sold, is no simple feat. But the folks at FilmDistrict are smartly playing on the mood of Spike Lee's upcoming "Oldboy" remake, at least early on, to try and spur some interest and those who might not know about Park Chan-wook's original. And now another new teaser has arrived.
