God bless the internet and modern technology, or pehaps take it as a sign as to how much of a misfire the Oscars were on Sunday, but in less than 48 hours we're already seeing improvements to the show. This morning, a much, much better video montage tribute to the James Bond franchise arrived and now, a response has been filed to Seth MacFarlane's pretty dumb "We Saw Your Boobs." Ladies, your rebuttal has arrived.

After 6-9 months of fevered speculation and prognostication, the 2012/2013 awards season climaxed on Sunday night with the 85th Academy Awards, as Ben Affleck's "Argo" took Best Picture, Ang Lee won his second Best Director Oscar, Daniel Day-Lewis became the first person to win three Best Actor awards, Christoph Waltz took his second Supporting trophy in four years, and Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence won their first awards.

While you can continue to debate the merits of Sunday night's Oscars hosted by Seth MacFarlane (as we have already done), the bottom line is the Academy got what they wanted by hiring the edgy, younger skewing, "Family Guy" creator. The ratings for the show were up in 2013 with 40.3 million viewers tuning in, the highest figure since 41.3 million turned on their televisions to see if "Avatar" would win Best Picture. (It didn't.) Anyway, if the Academy wants to go with the same gameplan next year, they'll have to find someone else.

One could suggest that we and other pundits have exhausted the conversation around the 85th Academy Awards. We might not argue with that, but while we've had plenty of opportunities to examine the surprises, the snubs, the show itself, both its best/worst moments and how it can improve, we personally haven't looked closely at why the outcomes landed where they did (you can see the full list of winners here). And now that the dust has settled, we wanted to analyze why "Argo" won Best Picture and take a general deeper dive into some of the winners.

We've already run down our highlights and low points from Sunday night's Oscar ceremonies, but one thing we failed to mention was what a colossal missed opportunity the tribute to 50 years of Bond was. Highly publicized before the broadcast, the segment flopped, presenting a poorly cobbled-together montage overlaid with rather gaudy and cliche graphics, that failed to capture the journey the character has taken over five decades and what has made 007 timeless. Well, leave it to a 19-year-old film student from the Netherlands to show the Academy how its done.

For what it's worth, the ratings for last night's Oscar show look to be up, suggesting that the Academy's gamble with Seth MacFarlane paid off (although, the fact that six of the Best Picture nominations made over $100 million is probably the most significant factors). But creatively, things were a little more mixed, most can agree.

The Oscar show always seems to be a mix of time honored tradition and off-the-wall experimentation (remember that Cirque Du Soleil thing last year? Pharrell playing in the balcony of the Dolby Theater?) and 2013 was no different. While the Academy tried to court younger viewers by choosing "Family Guy" creator and "Ted" director Seth MacFarlane to host, the decision to pay tribute to movie musicals appealed distinctly to an entirely different demographic. So no surprise, the show was a mess.

“ ‘I'm not watching the Oscars next year’ says everyone who will watch the Oscars next year,” one of us joked on Twitter this morning, but it’s a pretty apt summation to the perplexing perpetual love/hate relationship many have with the Academy Awards. “We’re relieved to hear that everyone says ‘The Oscars Don’t Matter’ aren’t watching the Oscars tonight,” was another quip we made yesterday evening before the awards and again, it echoes the same sentiment. And we don’t really get the fustration that comes from the audience, those in the industry, those who cover movies and hell, even some of our own team members.

Missed the 85th Academy Awards last night for some reason? Not into it? Just sort of put off by Seth MacFarlane's perennially self-satisfied and smug smirk? Perhaps you watched, but went to bed during the 6th hour when you knew there were still 45 nominations to go? We can't fault you either way, but in case you happened to miss the show -- the full list of winners is here -- or just got sick of how longwinded and or overly musical it was, you can watch the entire thing on Hulu. Hell, we won't even spoil it for you in case you missed it, but if you did, we warn you, it was long, erratically paced (slow and then hurried and then slow again) and the jokes were funny and then they weren't. Inconsistency was the name of the game.

The 2013 Oscar season finally came to an end with the 85th Academy Awards. The major prizes of the night went to "Argo," which, as expected, won Best Picture, Ang Lee took Best Director, while Christoph Waltz, Anne Hathaway, Daniel Day-Lewis and Jennifer Lawrence won the acting prizes.
