Ben Whishaw, Paddington Bear
“After a period of denial, we’ve chosen ‘conscious uncoupling,’” Colin Firth told Entertainment Weekly last month about his role as the voice of “Paddington” bear for The Weinstein Company’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the beloved children’s story character. The Academy Award winner had voiced the character, but dropped out of production mid-way.

Paddington
It always seemed a bit like an odd fit when Colin Firth signed up to voice the beloved bear "Paddington," and it seems he finally realized too, dropping out of the project, which already has a November 28th release date and has released a couple of trailers. But at least as far as PR goes, everyone is totes cool with it.

It's hard to think of a producer more successful right now than David Heyman. Before anyone had even heard of them, he picked up the rights to the "Harry Potter" books from J.K. Rowling, and turned them into the biggest franchise in history. Beyond that, he's also been behind megahits "I Am Legend" and "Gravity," the latter of which brought critical acclaim as well as commercial success.

Paddington
Though it may boast the names of Nicole Kidman, Sally Hawkins, Hugh Bonneville and Peter Capaldi, all of them play second fiddle to center of "Paddington"—the bear himself. And the first teaser trailer for the holiday movie gives you a brief look at what the beloved childhood bear looks like on the big screen.

While Ramin Bahrani's leap to the slightly-bigger-time earlier this year with "At Any Price" didn't quite work, we still admired the hell out of the movie. Putting the plot aside, which is perhaps too overstuffed for its own good, with some genre elements that don't quite work, Bahrani's study of middle American values coming up against corporate ethics (among other things) was fascinating, as was his look at the divergent dreams between a father and his son. So, that's why we're very excited for his next effort "99 Homes," and after lining up Andrew Garfield to star, things have gotten even more interesting...

Fresh off the shadow-clad, seated brooding he was doing in the UK quad “Taken 2” poster, Liam Neeson is back again in the same sort of mood, along with posters for the Sundance flick “The Words,” and a children's book adaptation from the director of “The Mighty Boosh.”

CGI/live-action hybrids of iconic childrens’ characters don’t have a great track-record in terms of quality. We could list the many terrible films that have followed this pattern, but it’s probably much easier to sum up their quality in a single quote. When asked in “Zombieland” about whether or not he had any regrets, Bill Murray answers, simply, “Garfield.”
