It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to say this, but we truly are excited to see the latest Michael Bay movie. Swapping enormous machines for enormous muscles, "Pain & Gain" is looking increasingly like Bay has made the action movie equivalent of “Spring Breakers,” with a tiny budget by Bay’s standards and fuelled by the kind of homoeroticism we haven’t seen this side of “Bad Boys 2.” Two new TV spots have dropped for the heist comedy and it looks as over the top and brilliantly unhinged as ever, and hopefully that’s a good thing because it’s release is now only a few weeks away on April 26th.

Oh sure, we like to rag on Michael Bay, but considering that it's been eight years since he's made a non-"Transformers" movie, it's also become rather easy. Perhaps we've forgotten he's the same dude behind the immensely popular popcorn spectacles like "The Rock" and "Bad Boys," but no worries, because he's coming this spring with a whole new arsenal of his usual toys in what looks like a movie directed by a can of Red Bull. In other words, it looks sorta awesome.

It's Sunday afternoon TV clip round-up time. Here we go. Paramount has released a new “Pain & Gain” TV spot. As Michael Bay’s take on the relatively low-budget comedic crime film, the TV spot is chock-full of sunned muscles and imminent chase scenes (hinted at through boats, cop cars, and helicopters). Based on a true story, “Pain & Gain” is about three Florida bodybuilders who become involved in extortion and kidnapping. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, and Anthony Mackie as the three “steroid-abusing knucklehead bodybuilders,” the supporting cast includes Ed Harris, Tony Shalhoub, Rob Corddry, Rebel Wilson, and Ken Jeong. “Pain & Gain” will be out in theaters April 23rd and it looks as if it could be Bay's best movie ever with a great sense of wit and knowing humor.

Coming up in the next few months are a pair of interesting looking projects from two directors who couldn’t be more different if they tried. There’s Steven Soderbergh’s “Side Effects” which is set for a February 8th release, and there’s also Michael Bay’s “Pain and Gain” scheduled for release on April 26th. And what do they have in common, you ask? Well, not a lot, except they’ve both just received new TV spots.

After three straight "Transformers" movies, we kind of forgot that Michael Bay movies used to be fun. Testosterone fueled fun, sure, but fun nonetheless. But he's taken a break from making robots go boom to make his "indie" movie, and goddamn, if this trailer for "Pain And Gain" isn't a steroid boost right to the nostalgia center of our brains.

After making his big screen debut in the dismal “The Mummy Returns,” few thought that pro-wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was long for the acting world but the one-two punch of “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” and “Fast Five” last year -- which both saw more box office success than their predecessors -- has solidified himself as the latest action star. This year sees him in two high-profile projects and posters for the films have dropped.

This is what you call the exception to the rule. While we just wrote that Paramount has basically waved goodbye to original ideas, everyone will point to Michael Bay's upcoming "Pain and Gain" and cry foul. But here's the thing -- this is basically a one for me/one for them gig to keep Bay happy and let him knock out something that doesn't involve robots before he goes and directs "Transformers 4" and makes the studio a kajillion dollars. Anyway, long story short, "Pain and Gain" has a release date and it's coming for you next spring.

Michael Bay is all about T&A up and coming talent, isn't he? The helmer is continuing the trend, plucking little known Spanish-Dutch actress/model Yolanthe Cabau out of obscurity for his upcoming dark comedy-thriller "Pain And Gain."

Well if the cast of “Transformers” helmer Michael Bay’s low-budget (in Bay terms) dark comedy “Pain and Gain” isn’t the most eclectic ensemble of talent he’s ever assembled, it’s certainly the best he’s done in years.

Rebel Wilson Feeling The 'Pain And Gain'

After a scene-stealing turn as Kristen Wiig's annoying roommate in "Bridesmaids" (aided in no small part by Matt Lucas), Rebel Wilson wasted no time capitalizing on the movie's success, grabbing roles in Hollywood projects faster than you can say "Melissa McCarthy." This year alone, Wilson is already set to appear in the Chris Colfer-penned, coming-of-age comedy "Struck By Lightning" (debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival next month), Lionsgate's ensemble pregnancy comedy "What to Expect When You're Expecting" in May, The Weinstein Company's not-a-"Bridesmaids"-sequel-but-get-confused-and-buy-a-ticket-anyway comedy "Bachelorette" in June, and in Fox's animated sequel "Ice Age: Continental Drift" in July. If that wasn't enough, the Australian actress has already wrapped the musical comedy "Pitch Perfect," and has lined up her next project, Michael Bay's "Pain And Gain."
