Casting News Explosion Includes Rob Riggle As Villain In '21 Jump Street,' Tim Roth In 'Arbitrage' & Much MoreJay Baruchel is joining the cast of David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis." The rangy young actor will play a "financial whiz kid" in the film, who makes a fortuitous gamble over the course of the film's single-day narrative. Baruchel is joining a loaded cast, including Robert Pattinson, Samantha Morton, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti, Mathieu Amalric and Sarah Gadon. Baruchel will next be seen in the Michael Dowse-directed "Goon," which he co-wrote with Evan Goldberg, before lending his voice to the second film in the "How To Train Your Dragon" series. Update: First tipped by C7nema and confirmed by reps for the film, Kevin Durand ("Lost," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"), Emily Hampshire ("The Trotsky") and Patricia McKenzie have also joined the film playing Torval, Jane Melman and Kendra respectively.

Actor Also Discusses Working With George Clooney, David Cronenberg, And The Death Of 'Bubba Nosferatu'In "Win Win" (our review here), Paul Giamatti stars as Mike, a beleaguered lawyer and father who decides to care for an elderly man (Burt Young) in order to receive a lofty commission. What he doesn't count on is Kyle (Alex Shaffer), the man's grandson who comes to live with him. Mike, a part-time high school wrestling coach, soon learns that the chain-smoking, moody Kyle is a world-class grappler, and he brings him onto the team. As you would expect, complications result.

Last month, a teaser trailer for the highly anticipated "The Hangover 2" arrived and announced the return of The Wolfpack, but once again, Justin Bartha's character of Doug was nowhere to be found. But there was a monkey featured very prominently (this writer thinks Doug is the monkey but no one else in The Playlist office will listen). There's still two months to go before the film hits theaters and full length trailer will likely shed some light on what's happening, but until then, these latest images from Empire (print edition, not yet online) will have to do. They also managed to speak to the cast and Bartha reveals that Doug will likely to get play along with the Wolfpack.

Ari Folman has been steadily moving forward with “The Congress,” his animated, sci-fi followup to “Waltz With Bashir.” The director unveiled some early footage last year at the Cartoon Movie Symposium in Lyons, France and has Robin Wright long attached to star, with Kodi Smit-McPhee revealing last month that he had joined the project as well.

Perhaps this is why the new transparency sucks and why a salient argument can be made for the halcyon days of film development behind closed doors: watching the back and forth progress and decline of David Cronenberg‘s gestating “Cosmpolis” is heartbreaking. First, it's an A-list project out the door with Colin Farrell, Marion Cotillard and Paul Giamatti and then it's a slightly less desireable project with Robert Pattinson and Keira Knightley in the leads instead of Farrell and Cotillard who bailed for a tentpole ("Total Recall") and a baby, respectively (Cotillard is pregnant, the dream for Playlist suitors is collapsing).

When "Ironclad" was first announced, it featured an intriguing cast attached with Paul Giamatti, James Purefoy, Bob Hoskins, Robert Carlyle, Pete Postlethwaite, Richard Attenborough, William Moseley, Colm Meaney and Angus McFayden. But as these things go, as development got underway casting shifted for a variety of reasons and it now arrives with Giamatti and Purefoy still aboard with Brian Cox, Derek Jacobi, Kate Mara, Jason Flemyng, Jamie Foreman and new guy Aneurin Barnard. And now the first trailer debuted by HeyUGuys has laned and....we're not so impressed.
