'Fast Five' Drives Into Former Release Date For 'The Thing'A sudden reshuffling has led to some murmuring about what is going on over at Universal. Host to a number of underperformers both small ("Scott Pilgrim") and huge ("Green Zone," "The Wolf Man") over the last year, the studio is being forced to re-evaluate their decision-making. As a result, POOF, "The Thing," their big April pre-summer release, is gone from the schedule. In its place on April 29, 2011 is "Fast Five," the fifth movement in the "Fast And The Furious" concerto.

... The Project Is Put Into Production By Then; Studio Is Reaching Out To Directors NowFrom hotly anticipated project to a potentially stalled one in limbo; things are not going too well for Paramount's planned adaptation of Frank Herbert's heady sci-fi novel, "Dune" — you know the one, the picture David Lynch inexplicably made in 1984 (ironically he passed up "Return Of The Jedi" the year before).

We bow to anyone who can come up with a worse idea for a Hollywood tentpole blockbuster like "Ouija Board: The Movie." Hasbro must be looking for an excuse to get us to kiss their Converse, however, as they are prepared to throw Yankees money at adapting the game into a full length feature, with $80-100 million being the magic number to get this thing on movie screens nationwide. And like every big budget tentpole announced in the last month, a number of directors are vying for the job. The studio's contestants?
