It's been a massive week for trailers and promos with "The Dark Knight Rises," "Wrath of the Titans" and "The Hobbit" all premiering their first looks to go with the big releases. But there's one big one still to come, as tomorrow will bring the online debut of the first teaser for "Prometheus," Ridley Scott's return to the sci-fi genre after nearly 30 years away, and a precursor/successor to his "Alien," although the extent to which hasn't yet been fully revealed.

There's been some confusion as to whether or not Ridley Scott's hotly anticipated return to sci-fi, "Prometheus" (out June 8th, 2012, galaxy-wide), is a prequel or a reboot or somehow connected to his earlier, influential "Alien." Various cast and crew members have said conflicting things, and the absolute secrecy surrounding the project certainly hasn't helped to clear anything up (although when we spoke to Charlize Theron a few weeks ago, she did let a little something slip). In a recent interview with Filmophilia, Ridley Scott both downplays the film's connection to "Alien" before, in the same interview, backtracking and saying there's a concrete link. Sir Ridley is going loco!

Marrakech Film Festival '11: Sigourney Weaver Talks 'Avatar,' 'Prometheus' & Forgetting The Pain of 'Alien 3'

It's said you should try to avoid meeting the people you admire, as they're bound to disappoint. Sigourney Weaver, however, put the lie on that entirely when we got to talk with her at the recent Marrakech International Film Festival, where she was serving as President of the short films jury. If her recent movie choices have been a bit mixed (for every "Rampart" there's an "Abduction") Weaver herself seems teflon-coated in that she can emerge from lesser films intact, and somehow any blame gets deflected onto the films themselves for not being able to capitalize properly on her particular brand of charisma. This erratic quality level has also, presumably, a lot to do with being an actress of a certain age who wants to work regularly, (and boy, does she work: 2011 saw her in 4 theatrical releases -- the aforementioned films plus "Paul" and "Cedar Rapids"); it's hardly controversial to suggest that Hollywood isn't exactly programmed for the sixtysomething actress, even someone as iconic as Weaver.

"The Search For Our Beginning Could Lead To Our End." So goes the ominous tagline for Ridley Scott's "Prometheus," which continues to point towards the plot that Fox has so far been denying.

Few movies have sparked as much speculation, excitement, and unease (just think of the potential disappointment!) as Ridley Scott's upcoming "Prometheus," which promises to return the famed director to the "Alien" universe that shot him into the directorial stratosphere. What, exactly, "Prometheus" is remains something of a mystery, but these new images, set to appear in next week's Entertainment Weekly, sheds a little bit of light. At the very least, they just upped the intrigue factor, at least for us.

Taking a break from defending his show "Lost" from detractors on Twitter, along with writing some of the most talked-about upcoming studio projects, "Prometheus" scribe Damon Lindelof sat down with MTV to talk Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel/sequel/spinoff and gave a few hints that may be a bit spoiler-filled for some. Careful, you've been warned.
