Director Joe Carnahan’s mysterious project, “Stretch,” continues to gain a diverse cast. Little has been revealed about the plot other than that it involves a chauffeur who picks up an eccentric billionaire with “devious appetites.” It’s being touted as an action-comedy, which works to the advantage of new cast member James Badge Dale, who has jumped onto the film in an unspecified role.

Actor Sam Riley has been progressing up the ranks after his break-out performance in the 2007 biopic “Control” and his more recent turn in "On The Road." With a starring role alongside Angelina Jolie in “Maleficient” next summer, Riley has jumped aboard the Weinstein Company’s adaptation of Irene Nemirovsky’s book, “Suite Francaise.” Set in WWII, the project recently acquired leading lady Michelle Williams, on top of a cast that already includes Kristin Scott Thomas as Williams’ mother. The story follows a French woman (Williams) who falls in love with a German officer (played by Matthias Schoenaerts). The cast is a fine assortment of indie darlings and past Oscar contenders who could give it strong legs for awards consideration next year. Production is set to start later this summer for a release next year. [Deadline]

Idris Elba's moment of hitting a bigger platform of fame, is nearly here. Of course, TV audiences already admire the man for this work on "The Wire" and "Luther," but he's not quite a kitchen table name just yet. However, he already has one of the most memorable lines of the summer ("We are canceling the apocalypse!") in the forthcoming "Pacific Rim," and he could be in the awards season hunt leading "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom." And of course, he'll be back mixing it up in "Thor: The Dark World." So is it any surprise that his next gig is starring alongside Sean Penn and Javier Bardem?

But now he's getting back to work -- and how -- lining two projects. So let's get to it...
