Kevin Smith released a terrible fucking movie this year called "Cop Out." Critics rightly took him to task for that pile of garbage and ever since, Smith has been bitching and moaning like a little girl about how the press never reports anything accurately, should be forced to pay to review films and in general, is a dirty industry, with lazy people who don't care about anything. Yawn.

After being added to the Sundance Non-Competition line up just yesterday, we now have our first official look at Kevin Smith's religious horror "Red State" which features an impressive ensemble cast including Michael Parks, Kevin Pollack, John Goodman, Kyle Gallner, Melissa Leo, Michael Angarano, Stephen Root and his future "Hit Somebody" lead Nicholas Braun.

Listening to Kevin Smith talk lately, you might think he's the most misunderstood and put upon director in Hollywood. Railing against movie critics following the drubbing "Cop Out" received earlier this year, /Film decided to follow up with the director first after news began circulating of his imminent retirement following some comments made to the Boston Phoenix recently where he mused he was one or two film away from retirement. And the director was game, hitting the website with a not very clear clarification of his retirement news and some details on how he plans to sell "Red State."

With shooting wrapped and Kevin Smith in the midst of cutting his upcoming horror flick "Red State," hoping to have it ready for the Sundance Film Festival in January, the director has unveiled the teaser poster for the film. The effectively chilly poster, Smith boasts, was not created by an ad agency but by "Red State" producer Jon Gordon's assistant Melissa Bloom.
