47 Ronin, set visit
Things that have happened in the two-and-a-half years since I was on the set of Universal's hopeful Christmas blockbuster "47 Ronin" in June 2011: A presidential election, a government shutdown, three fall TV seasons, four Marvel movies, two "Fast & Furious" movies, two "Paranormal Activity" movies, three World Series, one complete Kim Kardashian marriage (and another engagement), the release of three albums by One Direction, and one fully-achieved Matthew McConaughey comeback. I've moved house four times, I've fallen in and out of love at least once, I've left my full-time job at The Playlist, and one couple I'm friends with have conceived and given birth to two whole children. What I'm saying is, this has been a long time coming.

Comic-Con is nearly upon us: we're only two weeks away from the descent of the geek world on their San Diegan Mecca, although many have been worried, considering Marvel's decision to skip Hall H this year, that there wouldn't be much worth going for. But Legendary Pictures, backers of "The Dark Knight," "300" and "Clash of the Titans," have announced that they're taking four big projects to the Coachella of sci-fi/fantasy, and the press release is unusual for two reasons: firstly (and more on this shortly) not an inch of film will have been shot on any of the four, and secondly, because they've left slip a major piece of casting on the most imminent.

Hiroyuki Sanada, Kou Shibasaki & Tadanobu Asano Also Join The CastAre you ready for a big budget samurai movie based on a legendary incident in Japanese history where everybody dies at the end (though we'll guess they'll change that part here)? Then get ready for "47 Ronin." The long-in-development blockbuster over at Universal is headed towards cameras with Keanu Reeves set to star, and today he's been joined by four Japanese thesps.
