Even though his planned adaptation of The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" is now dead, director Robert Zemeckis doesn't seem to be short on options. It was just over a week ago that he was linked to the drama "Flight" with Denzel Washington loosely attached, now another project is crossing his desk.

Robert Zemeckis has spent the past few years, since 2004's uncanny valley-crossing "The Polar Express," trying to convince the movie-going public of the validity of his brand of motion capture animation. For the most part, audiences have resisted, but he still keeps plugging away. And even a new deal with Disney to distribute his animated wonders wasn't enough to guarantee its success; it was quietly shuttered this year.

Yesterday the internet collectively groaned when reports surfaced that Robert Zemeckis, the king of dead-eye CGI, was in talks to direct a remake of "The Wizard Of Oz" for Warner Bros. based on the original script for the 1939 film. Thankfully cooler heads have prevailed and the film is still just a bad idea on a producer's desk. For now.

While talking with MTV during one of the seemingly endless press appearances for the new "Back to the Future" Blu-ray set (which is totally worth picking up, by the way), Robert Zemeckis gave a brief update on the status of the long-in-development "Roger Rabbit" sequel. When asked if the script was still being penned by the original writers (Peter S. Seaman and Jeffrey Price), Zemeckis confirmed, and said, "They're slow." When pressed for details if he had actually read anything, Zemeckis stated that he had and, "It's great... I think it's gonna be great."

Director Says Picture Is "All Ahead Full," Despite Actor's Recent Thought To The ContraryIt seems there is better news for director Robert Zemeckis who's been in the press quite a bit this week because of the 25th anniversary of "Back To the Future" (which seems never ending) which is hitting Blu-Ray today.

We're on record as being fans of Scottish actor David Tennant -- so much so that he got a brief mention in our piece on actors on the rise last week. He's best known for being the star of the BBC's "Doctor Who" (in which he was mostly terrific), but his other TV performances in "Blackpool" and "Casanova" were equally charismatic, and whenever we've caught him on stage, in the likes of the title role in "Hamlet," Martin McDonagh's "The Pillowman' or Kenneth Lonergan's "Lobby Hero," he's given truly outstanding performances.
