Love or fame? That's the big question a mustaciohed Paul Giamatti poses to newcomer Diego Boneta in "Rock Of Ages," Adam Shankman's big hairspray filled '80s musical. And based on that sentence, you should already know if your down with this movie or not, without having to watch the trailer.

This past weekend, two pricey fantasy epics hit movie screens in the form of Warner Bros.' swords-and-sandal sequel "Wrath Of The Titans" and Relativity's comic fairy tale "Mirror Mirror." And while their audiences were, in theory, different (with Tarsem's Snow White picture skewing much younger), neither fared as well as hoped, "Wrath of the Titans" ending up with barely half of the original film's opening weekend, around $35 million, while "Mirror Mirror" failed to clear the $20 million mark, despite the presence of Julia Roberts.

Heading out of 2011 and into 2012, the executives and bookkeepers at Warner Bros. began taking a hard look at the numbers of a handful of projects on their slate, and they didn't like what they saw. The long developing remake of "Akira," which was gearing up to shoot this spring, seemed to be in an endless casting/testing cycle and the film, which had already stalled out once in 2011 when orignial director Albert Hughes left, had its pre-production offices closed at the start of the month. That's not all. David Dobkin's fantasy pic "Arthur & Lancelot," which was set to star Joel Kinnaman and Kit Harington, was also put on hold. The studio encouraged the director to take the project elsewhere due to the budget going over by a full three figure number. And it looks like WB is no hurry to revive it.

Details and more photos below, so mark the ones that interest you on your calendar.

Wow, even Nicolas Cage must be impressed. The first trailer for next spring's fist-pumping, '80s set musical "Rock Of Ages" has arrived and, man, we just can't get over the impressive display of bad wigs. Given the money they clearly spent on these hairpieces, they couldn't score one for Paul Giamatti?

With seemingly every fairy tale being adapted for the big screen in the next few years ("Snow White and the Huntsman," etc. etc. blah blah blah) in bigger and more extravagant ways, we're bracing ourselves for a choking onslaught of pixie dust. And one of the adaptations we could care less about is "Hairspray" director Adam Shankman's "The Nutcracker" redux. Given the director's choreography background (he's also a frequent judge on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance"), we kind of assumed his 'Nutcracker' would stick to its famous ballet roots. But nope. According to the director its going in a completely different but altogether predictable direction.

The cast of "Rock of Ages" just keeps getting more and more interesting. "The Hollywood Reporter" has announced that "Saturday Night Live" star Will Forte has joined the already star-studded adaptation of the Broadway musical directed by Adam Shankman. Forte, whose unique brand of humor can be pretty divisive, will play network news anchor Mitch Maley, a role that wasn't in the stage show.

Looks like Alec Baldwin is going to be in "Rock of Ages" after all. After reports surfaced earlier in the month that the actor was leaving the upcoming musical "Rock of Ages" for undisclosed reasons (some said there was a personal matter he needed to attend do), it looks like everything is hunky dory.
