AMC clearly knows which side their bread is buttered on, and who is spreading. Even with "Breaking Bad" coming to an end in two weeks, they've already greenlit a prequel series, centered around sleazy lawyer Saul Goodman. And now, the network's other smash success show is also expanding, with AMC clearly taking a page from their major studio counterparts.

In what has got to be one of the more exciting horror-related announcements in recent memory, “American Horror Story” mastermind Ryan Murphy is reteaming with his “The Normal Heart” producer Jason Blum (who shepherded the “Paranormal Activity” franchise and has alien abduction chiller “Dark Skies” opening next month) for a remake of the cult classic horror film “The Town That Dreaded Sundown.”

Magazines doing photo spreads recreating scenes from iconic movies is nothing new. Vanity Fair seems to do it a couple times a year, and it was at the tail end of 2011 when the New York Times Magazine got in on the act enlisting a wealth of stars for a big awards season shoot that included, among others, Rooney Mara dressing up as Alex from "A Clockwork Orange." Now, "Glee" and "American Horror Story" creator Ryan Murphy is joining in, recruiting the leading ladies from his TV projects to participate in a horror-themed shoot for Elle.

It's hard to believe that up until now, "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy hasn't tried to bring his musical success to the big screen. Instead, he went traveling around the world with Julia Roberts (who wouldn't?!) in "Eat Pray Love," and is developing the AIDS drama "The Normal Heart." But it seems he hasn't left big, gaudy numbers behind as he's gearing up a star studded musical to destroy your ears.

Remember when big-screen talent lining up work on television was big news? Now it's frankly surprising if a Hollywood director or actor hasn't got a project on TV. Here's the latest list that will be working on pilots this year.

More than a few were skeptical when the Alexandre Aja-directed remake of slasher-classic "Maniac" was announced, with Elijah Wood stepping into the gnarled, grotesquely-unattractive shoes of Joe Spinell. But they seem to have found a way around this, as Wood revealed to MTV at Sundance that the film was, "...entirely in P.O.V. You only ever see me in reflections and occasionally there are out-of-body experiences where you see more of me." While it's a dubious proposition to capture a film with a time and location so integral to its own identity, a fresh approach like this seems wise. Consider this: it could have easily become a found-footage movie.

Creative Differences Spawned From Not Having Any Hair To Whip Back And ForthIn Hollywood, the saying goes, you fail upwards. Enter Ryan Murphy, who received his big break in movies by helming the star-studded adaptation of "Running With Scissors." The fact that it was borderline-unwatchable dross didn't seem to affect his next job, the high-profile "Eat Pray Love," which somehow endeared itself to $200 million worth of undemanding Julia Roberts fans, despite being nearly as intolerable as its predecessor. So it goes for Murphy, a "mastermind" between two facile television entertainments ("Nip/Tuck," "Glee") that further remind us of a distinct chasm separating the big and small screens.

With Jaden Smith now a proven moneymaker, The Smiths are now looking to turn their other spawn, Willow Smith into a multi-quadrant threat. The pint-sized sensation already set the blogosphere on fire with "Whip My Hair" and as was revealed last month, a remake of the kid's classic musical "Annie" is in the works with her to star. So who better to direct than the man who has single-handedly made singing along to terrible songs cool again?
