There is no doubt that "Tales From The Gangster Squad" is very, very high on the priority list at Warner Bros. With names like Darren Aronofsky, Paul Greengrass, Francis Lawrence, Martin Campbell, Greg Berlanti, Scott Cooper and Jose Padilha all being tossed around at various points to direct the film, "Zombieland" helmer Ruben Fleischer landed the gig late last year. But WB isn't done yet trying to lure top talent to their crimeland pic.

Duo Writing Original Music For Film, Will Also Feature Performance By ByrneItalian helmer Paolo Sorrentino made a name for himself at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival with his film "Il Divo" but he'll more than likely soon be better known worldwide for his upcoming music-centric revenge tale, "This Must Be The Place," starring Sean Penn and Frances MacDormand. The project won't just share a title of a song by New York New-Wavers Talking Heads though, as that band's lead singer David Byrne is going meta in scoring and writing original music for the film.

EXCLUSIVE: Back last summer, it was revealed that Sean Penn was in talks to star in "Genius," an adaptation of the National Book Award-winning non-fiction work "Max Perkins: Editor of Genius" by A. Scott Berg. Written by John Logan ("Gladiator") (the script made the Black List back in 2007), the film would find Penn playing the legendary Perkins, a Scribner's editor who worked with giants like F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway and Thomas Wolfe. And it appears one of the hottest rising young actors is now taking a look at the gestating film.

Fuck "Thor," "Cowboys & Aliens," "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and whatever other geek movie trailer countdown that happened this month. This is the trailer we've been dying to see ever since it started unspooling in front of "Black Swan," and for us, if the movie news year ended right here that would be fine with us.

Self-Described "Difficult" Director Says You Probably Won't Ever See Tom Hanks In One Of His FilmsIt was arguably one of the biggest political stories/fall out scandals of the Iraq War, so it wasn't a total surprise when CIA Agent Valerie Plame Wilson's true life story was made into a motion picture. Her husband, Joseph Wilson, wrote a 2003 New York Times op-ed piece saying the Bush administration had manipulated intelligence about weapons of mass destruction to justify the invasion of Iraq and her life was never the same again.

You know what was a super exciting prospect back in March of 2009? The Farrelly brothers making a “The Three Stooges,” film with Sean Penn as Larry, Jim Carrey as Curly and Benicio del Toro as Moe. Cut to more than a year later -- and a lot of back and forth -- and let's face it: that film, at least with that cast, is likely never getting made.
