After directing last year's "Real Steel," it looked like director Shawn Levy was heading back home to 20th Century Fox to direct either an adaptation of "Frankenstein" or, possibly, a remake "Fantastic Voyage." As of September of last year, Levy said that both projects were still "possibilities," but in February, it looked like Levy would instead return to comedy (or perhaps he never left depending on how you feel about "Real Steel") with "The Internship," which would reunite "Wedding Crashers" actors Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. With the dust settled, Levy is officially helming "The Internship."

Do you remember "Pinkberry: The Movie"? No? Well, you can watch it below, but it was a viral video made a couple years back featuring Miles Fisher as a powerful executive at the agency WME imploring his employees to come up with the next wave movie idea. The result? That's right, a movie based on everyone's favorite frozen snack. It was a pretty fun and witty insider jab at the industry that is hungry for the next big thing, and now a followup has arrived.

"Wedding Crashers" fans, listen up. This may be the closest you'll ever get to a sequel to the 2005 movie: Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are reuniting to star in "Interns" over at Twentieth Century Fox. The script was written by Vaughn himself (he also penned "Couples Retreat") and Shawn Levy looks set to direct and make this his follow-up to "Real Steel."

Shawn Levy Second-In-Line To Direct, Wants Ben Stiller To StarSo, you may remember near the beginning of the year, word floated around the interwebs that Guy Ritchie was going to direct a remake of "Cannonball Run." At the time we put in some inquiries and were told by insiders at Warner Bros. that the project is “just an idea." Well, that idea is now germinating into something very real as Vulture reports that Ritchie is now in talks with the studio to direct the film.

We're Really Excited About This! *Wooden Puppet Nose Grows To Twice Usual Length*The transformation of Shawn Levy is nearly complete. Having been a much-derided director of nakedly commercial comedies like "Night at the Museum," "Cheaper By The Dozen" and "The Pink Panther," the helmer took a left-turn into effects-driven family territory, with "Real Steel," which turned out to be far better received than you'd expect a movie about robot boxing to be, and is currently doing well (although not amazingly so) at the box office.

When “Real Steel” trailers first surfaced earlier in the year, it was difficult to know what to make of the robot boxing film. With Michael Bay’s triple feature letdown of the “The Transformers” trilogy and the unavoidable similarities between "Real Steel” and the kitschy Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em robots of yesteryear, how could this be anything more than another piece of disposable pop entertainment?

Says 'Frankenstein' Will Chronicle Victor & Igor In Their '20s Shawn Levy's name might not pop into your head when you think of the most successful directors of recent years, but his track record speaks for itself. While even Levy admits earlier projects like “Pink Panther” and “Cheaper by the Dozen” had their faults, his back catalogue of box offices successes is almost unmatched in the current crop of directors. He's currently riding off three smash hits in a row, with the "Night At The Museum" films and last year's "Date Night." His ability to turn out engaging, popcorn entertainment that is a cut above the usual standard is the reason why Levy seems to be linked to just about every project under the sun. And while he can't direct everything, he continues to develop projects that interest him under his production banner 21 Laps Entertainment. After discussing "Fantastic Voyage" and the "Real Steel" sequel last week, The Playlist caught up with Levy again this week to discuss a few more projects he has in the pipeline.

Just last week, the long gestating "Romancing the Stone" remake got new life when rumors kicked around that Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl were being eyed as the potential leads in the new film. Needless to say, the general reaction from everybody was a resounding thumbs down. But as it turns out, while the remake/reboot is indeed still happening there have been some significant changes to the game plan.
